Very nice, but...

The room was lovely. The bed was luxurious -- crispy sheets, fluffy pillows and blankets. Very good turn down service. But there was no coffee/tea maker in the room. The Cafe food was not great, especially for the price

Gorgeous hotel right in the middle of everything

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Everything
Location: So close to everything - directly across from the Common and park, shopping, theater, everything
Always a lovely stay here with the best rooms - very comfortable bed and pillows, bathrobes, slippers, Molton Brown bathroom products. It is a top notch hotel. Breakfast in the morning is glorious.

A favorite

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Everything
Location: Close enough to walk to dinner and the theater
An annual favorite around the time of year. While the bathroom of our Kingbed room was smaller than expected, everything else about our stay was delightful. We will return again to be sure.

Love the taj

Posted Feb 17, 2015
I have stayed at this hotel at least seven times. It is in a great location which makes you close to shopping and great restaurants. The staff is friendly and so accommodating. I do think the hotel is in need of a face lift. I will definitely stay there again

Best in Boston

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: In a word, it is the staff. Top to bottom, professionalism. This is not to take away from the great location, and the sense of old world charm.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: We were there for the theater. It is an easy walk across the Common. But this is the absolute center for all activities.
The 'Taj cannot be topped. You are treated like royalty when greeted by the Doorman, by everyone in between, and by the Doorman when you leave. This is not completely taught professionalism -- it is something that comes naturally to people who are obviously carefully vetted before stepping into active employment. Example: Our Bellman took the time to fully acquaint us with the facilities in our room, then tactfully inquired as to the reason for our visit. That led to a series of suggestions and positive offerings. There is an air of gentility, manners and politeness that characterized each contact we had with various members of the staff. Additionally, we were there during a blizzard. Yet the hotel operated just like it was any other day. If you are seeking the absolute best in Boston accomodations, this is the spot. I've been to the others.

Excellent hotel. A bit dated but mostly surprised by lack of perks for Expedia gold + members.

A wonderful place to stay!

Posted Feb 6, 2015
Pros: The service from the staff, the comfort of the rooms, and the location.
Cons: The only possible improvement would be the addition of a sauna or steam room
Location: The hotel is on Newbury Street, facing Boston Common. On a good day, all of Boston is within an easy walk. On a weathery day, the T is a block away!
We were in town for auditions for my son in the midst of the terrible storms seem to be piling up on Boston. The staff at the Taj was wonderful in helping to keep us warm, and get us where we needed to go. The location, at the entry to Boston Common, could not be more convenient or more beautiful. This is not our first stay at the Taj Boston, nor will it be our last (if the auditions work out as planned!)
