Very Pleasant Experience, But Needs Refurbishment

Posted May 26, 2015
Location: Location is convenient to most of the sites that visitors come to Boston to see. it is also within a quick "T" ride of most major area colleges.
Hotel provides essentially all the services and amenities expected in a five star property -- coupled with a warm and friendly staff. However, to qualify as a five star property, the hotel needs a significant refurbishment, including updated bathrooms, new carpets and drapes and paint, along with a general touch up. The current state of the rooms and public areas is not bad or poor -- it simply is not at a five star level.

Amazing hotel; perfect location

Posted May 25, 2015
The staff at the Taj were always kind and friendly. The room was absolutely beautiful and well kept at all times. The hotel was perfectly situated across from the Boston Common in the center of the city, making it easy to walk to fun restaurants and points of interest.

Great location, lovely old hotel

Posted May 21, 2015
I've stayed at the Taj many times for business trips. It's a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The room is comfortable, but generally, the hotel could use a little TLC. Some rooms look a bit worn (chipping paint, old furniture) and sometimes (particularly on lower floors) the rooms can have a bit of a "musty" smell. However, the rooms are always very clean and nicely appointed with down pillows, feather-bed toppers and down duvets. The location is great and the park views are marvelous.

Big comfortable room

Posted May 7, 2015
Pros: Easy going quiet efficiency. Great staff
Cons: Coffee maker in the room.
Location: Close to shops, park, Paul Revere Trail, Beacon hill etc. All within a few 100 yards
We stayed a couple of nights in a king sized room overlooking the park. The room was large and comfortable clean and quiet. Excellent bed! The only thing I missed was a coffee maker but as we were out and about it didn't make any difference to us.

Hotel service was exceptional. Lovely welcome cookies in our room. Room was upgraded upon arrival to a beautiful park view. Wish I could have spent more time there.

We spent three days visiting Boston for the first time. We found the hotels location very convenient and the staff extremely helpful. While it is an older property it has been renovated and maintained very well.
