“Perfect Hotel ,Location & Staff”

My 2 boys 15 & 11 and I stayed at the Back Bay for three nights. The staff and management could not have been nicer. The food in the restaurant Cuffs and service was fantastic. It was conveinent to subway and taxi's. From the minute we arrived we were treated like honored guests. I would go back there anytime.

Area recommendations
Downtown Boston, The Union Oyster House was great . We enjoyed our tour of Harvard and Fenway Park.

“Great stay in Boston”

My wife and I stayed at the Back Bay for a few days R&R this past weekend. We had stayed at another large chain hotel earlier in the week in Cambridge for business. The Back Bay was great with very good service. Nice bar and restaurant if you so choose. Good location; easy walk to Back Bay train station (took the train to the Patriots Monday Night Football Game); close to the Prudential center and an easy 1.5 mile walk into the heart of downtown and all the tourist attractions. A lot of good restaurants in the area (recommend: Luca for Italian upscale; Rustic Kitchen - good quality/very reasonable priced; some great steak houses nearby as well). Hotel beds very comfortable; turn-down service was nice Only suggestion for improvement is the speed and access to wireless in the room. While it was complimentary with the room we had, it was basically useless it was so slow. If we get back to Boston we will certainly stay here again.

Area recommendations
Prudential Center area/mall; Newbury street shopping; downtown sites

“Perfect Location!”

I have stayed here several times before and have enjoyed it but I think this recent trip was the best. They have a busy bar off the lobby and it can be loud, but once you're upstairs, you don't hear any of it. A really nice staff and perfect location, being a few blocks from Newbury Street and the South End Neighborhood. The room service was quick and the staff were all very gracious!

Area recommendations
Back Bay and South End for restaurants, historic element.

“Great Hotel”

Visited Boston for fun and had heard the Back Bay was the right section of Boston to stay in. Hotel was the best combination of price and comfort, compared to the others in the neighborhood. Staff was very helpful, bed was very comfortable, location was great. Would stay again.

“Nice location. Not done for family”

We booked through Expedia a double-room for our family. As we arrived to the hotel, they gave us a single room with a roll-over bed. It is a nice hotel but not done for families. Staff is friendly but do not look for extra effort. Confort of the room can be improved, especially the AC that is quiet loud. Overall not a "5 Star Luxury" hotel.

Area recommendations
Location is good in the middle of the action of Boston (Back Bay, Beacon Hill, etc.).

“Great Hotel in Back Bay”

We had family who lived close by in Back Bay, so this location is ideal. You can pretty much get anywhere you need to from here, and there is fantastic shopping (Newbury St) just a few blocks away. Also, you have tons of restaurants and sightseeing at your disposal from here. Room Service was good one day, fantastic the next, would highly recommend Cuffs Pub for a late night cocktail and lively atomosphere. Staff is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Great people, and we are super picky.

Area recommendations
Back Bay, Beacon Hill, North End....all have lots to offer!
Getting around
Use the T! You do not have to cab it everywhere, the T is really easy and economical.

“free wifi makes it all worthwhile.....!”

My daughter is a student at Boston University, and this hotel is 1.8 miles from her dorm, which is a very nice walk down Newbury Street with restaurants and shops. The hotel is also close to Trinity Church, and the Copley and Prudential malls. It also provides convenient access to the "T" , which came in handy later at night when I didn't feel like walking. The neighborhood seemed quite safe and upscale. The best things about this hotel are the FREE wi-fi (:)) (even in the guest rooms), and also 24 hour room service. The beds are comfy and it has all the amenities I needed....heated towel racks are a plus! Also, I have stayed in many hotels but never seen a shower like this one...it is designed for very tall people, but also has an optional water jet lower down which is good for the lower back , or whatever.....and I loved the aromatherapy shampoo and such. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel. In room coffee would have been nice, but otherwise it was great.

Area recommendations
Take a walk down Newbury Street, as i mentioned....it has beautiful buildings, nice shops and restaurants. If it is cold outside, the Copley Square mall is all indoors and has upscale shops....it also connects to "the Pru", which is what my daughter calls the Prudential mall, with more reasonably priced shopping options. It is nice that everything is connected by indoor walkways. Really, Boston is a very nice city and there is a lot to see and do.
What to pack
GOOD WALKING SHOES are a must!! There is a lot to see and do; most of it is accessible by foot and the area is nice for walking, but you don't want to get blisters.....I learned that on my first trip to Boston!

“Back to the Back Bay”

The hotel is located in the former Boston Police headquarters building, just three (short) blocks from Newbury Street and about the same from the Boston Gardens. The decor by and large fits with the architecture of the building, except for the loopy mirrors in the elevators and the glass treads on one stairway. Remove those (and hopefully replace with something better -- otherwise the stairway would be useless) and overall it's a well-designed hotel. Our room was spacious, very clean, everything worked, and the service was impeccable. The staff were very courteous -- none of the all-too-common Boston snootiness that one encounters in many hotels. I've now been to Boston about 25 times in 25 years, and I must say that The Back Bay Hotel would give any other Back Bay hotel a run for its money. Compared with other hotels in the immediate area, the Back Bay is a bit more sedate, understated, and not swirling in traffic. Other than the aforementioned lapses in taste in a few interior finishes, it gets five stars. And trust me, I'm picky about hotels.

Area recommendations
Back Bay, or if that isn't available, the Back Bay. None of the other neighborhoods have the character, accessibility to the city, and ease of access.
