A perfect city Boutique Hotel

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: location, comfort, great staff
Cons: hook on the back of bathroom doors!
Location: convenient for the T subway. Great to walk to Newbury Street, and wonderful to walk along Commonwealth Avenue
It is so very good to stay in a wonderfully comfortable, convenient deluxe hotel knowing that it has not got all the corporate trappings of hotels belonging to large groups. Yes there were 1 or 2 minor points about the 'view out of the window from the suite' and the 'air conditioning not being wonderfully efficient' (which was fine for us as we don't like dry air conditioned rooms). These comments have been written about previously by other guests, but really the plus's outweighed any small negatives. The atmosphere and welcome from the staff made entering the hotel a great experience….. and this happened every time we walked back in! The comfort of the furnishings and keenness and willingness of the staff to go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay outweighs anything else. The breakfast was great and very good value. The location is perfect and really, I am not sure what else you could want from a Boutique City Hotel…… except maybe a hook on the back of the bathroom door.

Consistently Good

Location: Great shopping on Newbery Street. Close to the Museum of Fine Arts and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum as well as Fenway Park.
We always love staying at The Eliot. And with the Expidia VIP upgrade, the room was fantastic! Very clean and great service. Feel like a European boutique hotel.

Lovely hotel but far too expensive

Weather it's expedia, the hotel or me for not researching or negotiating, the fact was that I paid too much. I won't stay again even though it was excellent.

ALL hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Knowledgeable about area and willing to help give advice on things to do. Room spotless and were given a very much appreciated up grade to a suite. Hotel within easy walking distance if many attractions. Clio restaurant provided great food again staff really can't do enough for you. Would stay here again if ever back in Boston.

Lovely boutique hotel I'm a great part of town

Posted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: Scale, location, style, service
Cons: Lived up to expectations for the price. Given its size you can live with the lack of gym etc.
Location: Good for exploring in all directions. If you are after some retail therapy then especially good.
We chose the hotel for the location and for its size / history. It didn't disappoint and I wish we could have stayed longer. Nice restaurants too. Rooms are nicely appointed

Impressive and elegant boutique style Hotel

Posted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: Exceptional customer service, elegant decor and cleanliness.
Cons: Better wifi service and quieter air conditioning.
Location: Newbury Street shopping/dining. Boston Common and Public Garden. Prudential Tower for shopping/Skywalk.
Upon arrival, you cannot fail to be impressed by the excellent customer service and the elegant decor of the lobby and reception area. I particularly like the old fashioned Otis elevators with their mini chandeliers. The front entrance and reception desk staff were consistently friendly, polite and courteous - I never had to press the elevator button once, nor open the main hotel door - there was always someone there with a smile and cheery conversation. The room was opulent elegance with beautiful decor and very clean. Couple of minor gripes - the cold water pressure was very low and the wifi connection a little bit patchy and slow on occasions, but there was lots of space, including a good sized bathroom and walk in closet. The air condition was a little on the loud side, but apart from that the hotel was quiet and restful. I like to walk, so the 30 minute brisk walk down Commonwealth Ave, across the Boston Common and into the Downtown/Harbour area was no issue for me - for others, a taxi would be necessary. Great shopping and dining nearby , especially along Newbury Street and Mass. Ave. I would recommend and definitely stay there again.

Very comfortable, well located Boutique Hotel

Posted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: Centrally located for Newberry and Boylston ( shopping and dinner). A little far from the City center (30 min walking).
Cons: It would be nice to have a real concierge.
The hotel upgraded me because I had a very bad experience with the room next door (communicating door) the first night I arrived. The suite I consequently got was absolutely wonderful. The staff was very helpful during the stay.
