Lovely boutique hotel I'm a great part of townPosted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: Scale, location, style, service
Cons: Lived up to expectations for the price. Given its size you can live with the lack of gym etc.
Location: Good for exploring in all directions. If you are after some retail therapy then especially good.
We chose the hotel for the location and for its size / history. It didn't disappoint and I wish we could have stayed longer. Nice restaurants too. Rooms are nicely appointed

Impressive and elegant boutique style HotelPosted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: Exceptional customer service, elegant decor and cleanliness.
Cons: Better wifi service and quieter air conditioning.
Location: Newbury Street shopping/dining. Boston Common and Public Garden. Prudential Tower for shopping/Skywalk.
Upon arrival, you cannot fail to be impressed by the excellent customer service and the elegant decor of the lobby and reception area. I particularly like the old fashioned Otis elevators with their mini chandeliers. The front entrance and reception desk staff were consistently friendly, polite and courteous - I never had to press the elevator button once, nor open the main hotel door - there was always someone there with a smile and cheery conversation. The room was opulent elegance with beautiful decor and very clean. Couple of minor gripes - the cold water pressure was very low and the wifi connection a little bit patchy and slow on occasions, but there was lots of space, including a good sized bathroom and walk in closet. The air condition was a little on the loud side, but apart from that the hotel was quiet and restful. I like to walk, so the 30 minute brisk walk down Commonwealth Ave, across the Boston Common and into the Downtown/Harbour area was no issue for me - for others, a taxi would be necessary. Great shopping and dining nearby , especially along Newbury Street and Mass. Ave. I would recommend and definitely stay there again.

Very comfortable, well located Boutique HotelPosted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: Centrally located for Newberry and Boylston ( shopping and dinner). A little far from the City center (30 min walking).
Cons: It would be nice to have a real concierge.
The hotel upgraded me because I had a very bad experience with the room next door (communicating door) the first night I arrived. The suite I consequently got was absolutely wonderful. The staff was very helpful during the stay.

Great Hotel in Good locationPosted Oct 4, 2014
Pros: Excellent service, Great staff and it's location
Great Hotel in a good location in Boston. Excellent and very helpful staff. Very close to a 'T' station for the centre of Boston if you don't want to walk. If you are a Baseball fan then Fenway park is very close. Will definitely stay there again when we go back to Boston.

Well situated quiet boutique hotel w/attentivePosted Oct 3, 2014
Pros: See above.
This is a well situated, quiet boutique hotel w/attentive staff. Rooms well stocked and presented. Staff was professional, courteous, quietly elegant. Discreet (don't usually use that word but it's appropriate and if that is what you need under the circumstances, this hotel will do nicely.)

It was OK. Very close to the convention center.Posted Sep 14, 2014
Pros: It was close to the convention center and had good room service.
Cons: Firstly, they should honor their VIP status. There was no upgrade or Expedia gold benefit of any kind. Ultimately they need to upgrade their rooms.
Location: It's in a great location.
They gave no Expedia upgrade or any other extras (I showed my card). It was supposed to be a VIP hotel. The front desk people were friendly. The room is small. The air conditioning runs all the time. Despite the thermostat being set to 65, the room doesn't fully cool off until sunset. The carpet was very old looking. It looked like a 1970's casino carpet. There are many layers of paint on the trim and baseboard. The door to the bathroom sticks and can be hard to close. Keep in mind this is a very old hotel. I've included pictures of the very small bathroom. The cold water faucet is a trickle. The hot water flow was fine. The shelf, in the bathroom is only about 6 inches deep. The room service (breakfast twice) was very good. It was on time, hot and delicious. The bed was comfortable.

Great Treat in the Back BayPosted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: The location is terrific and the staff is so accommodating.
Cons: A wine reception in the lobby would be nice.
Location: We loved Newbury Street with all the boutiques and restaurants.
My daughter and I were visiting Boston for the first time. We were so happy with the service, staff and location of The Eliot. We wanted a bottle of water from the minibar, but had a problem with the key. We called the front desk and they responded in about 5 minutes, with two bottles of water and a new key. The staff at the Eliot is FIRST CLASS. The hotel is close to the best restaurants and shopping. We definitely would stay here the next time we visit Boston.

Great hotel near Fenway and famous Newbury St.Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: This hotel is simply first class eventhough it's 90 years old.
Cons: The Air Conditioning was a little noisy but not a problem.
Location: If you're going to Fenway Park or shopping in the great shops of Newbury St, this is the place.
Hotel staff was very helpfull in all aspects. Room was very clean and exceptional soundproof. Very comfortable and easy access to the best of Boston. Would do it again at the Eliot anytime.
