A very tasteful hotel, but the grout in the bathroom needs a little cleaning. Room service was not worth what was charged - for instance, they offered ice cream sandwiches but could not offer a simple bowl of ice cream. Their grilled cheese sandwich was a greasy floppy mess; breakfast was much better. The Front Lobby and Doorman staff was very helpful, and made up for their room service quality (which was also very courteous, if truth be told).

Nice hotel- centrally locatedPosted Apr 9, 2015
Pros: The rooms were great, although the bathrooms are small.
Cons: The staff being mindful of the added value to the customer and being good at the detail. The rooms need better sound proofing...
Location: Very central
Facilities good, a few of the staff let the hotel down. Not great on the detail. Missed room clean, check out really poor.

Good situation for Newbury street.Posted Apr 8, 2015
Hotel facilities are very limited. Expensive bar, sushi bar and hotel restaurant. Small lobby with 2 chairs. Unless you pay for an upgrade to a suite, the rooms are small and basic. Very small bathroom , no bath tub. No where to put your things in the bathroom. Walk in closet in room with hanging rail, no drawers , lived out of suitcases as nowhere to unpack to. Mattress on bed worn, had "roll to middle" feature! Room cold, only heating was air con which blew cold for ages before it got Luke warm. View from window was the back and roofs of other buildings. I did ask for another room, but said they were full. The towels were good quality and plentiful and the room was clean. On check out I expressed my views and the pleasant girl on reception (emer) waived our very small room account charge, which was kind.

Cons: Provide in-room coffee maker
Lovely classic hotel. Well-located for Boston walking or subway. Hotel construction underway was a minor inconvenience. Staff was welcoming and very helpful. The restaurant, Uni, was divine.....an experience that puts it not only as a Best in Boston, but likely Best in the US.

Exquisite boutique hotelPosted Apr 4, 2015
The valet was wonderful. The Clio restaurant was a world-class dining experience. Complimentary room to suite upgrade was a very gracious gesture.

Great respite from the dorm!Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Location and great restaurants.
On a recent trip to Boston to visit my daughter who attends a local college, we had the pleasant experience of a "home away from home". My daughter and I enjoyed an over night away from dorm life with a wonderful dinner at Uni and a comfortable and quite night sleep. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive to all needs. It was a real treat-can't wait to visit again!

A GEM!Posted Mar 18, 2015
Pros: Intimate feel and large room
The Eliot is an older hotel on Commonwealth Ave that is just lovely. It is a more intimate property than the majority of Boston "brand" hotels. The location is ideal...walking distance to everything. Also 2 of the top 50 Boston restaurants are on property!
