Old hotel in a great location

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: Location Staff
Cons: It's threadworn.
The Fairmont in Boston is perfectly situated but a little tired. The staff is A+++. The hotel and my room were very clean and well maintained. The wifi didn't work. The building is old. The only restuarant is a primarily a bar and very noisy in the evenings. Great staff made up for the other short comings.

Double whammy

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: More dining options within the hotel
Location: Plenty of shopping, restaurants and site seeing nearby--all within walking distance and so much more easily accessed by mass transit
It was Valentine Day and a blizzard in Boston, yet the Fairmont at Copley seemed to function just fine. Good location. The redo of the Oak restaurant/bar produced a more hip atmosphere and it seemed well received--I prefer a more traditional scene in a hotel like the Fairmont. There is only one restaurant option within the hotel; it it hadn't been a blizzard it would not have been as much of a problem, but still it is a limited choice.

A classic gem, beautifully maintained. Small rooms are nicely appointed, comfortable, and clean. Public rooms and spaces are grand. Staff is friendly and well trained. Excellent location. We will be back on our next visit to Boston.

We got stuck in Boston in the storm. The hotel gave us a wonderful emergency rate and the hotel staff is exceptional. They understand customer allegiance and I will continue to give them my business. They know how to tun a hotel..

Failure to keep contract expensive cancelation

Posted Feb 16, 2015
First, cost to move reservation one day was the cost of the entire reservation. As I had two rooms for two nights, this was more than $1000! After much deliberation, this was waived, but certainly a difficult task. Upon arrival, the reserved king bed was not on their computer. Even showing them the print out from Expedia, it would cost another $40/night/room for the king bed. A nice hotel, but very unhelpful staff and poor policies.

Old hotel, great people, nice rooms!!!

Posted Feb 4, 2015
Pros: Elegant, location, old but in a good way, great gym, nice restaurant, busy and active in a nice way.
Cons: Showers are IN the bathtub which is not great, noise can make it through the front door of your room (OLD doors).
Location: Great location, central to shopping and most of the business core of Boston.
This is a great old hotel but management invested where they needed to. The rooms are new, very clean, elegant and nicely done. The restaurant and bar are nice, get very busy at night (in a good way) and serve great breakfast, drinks and food. The gym is brand new, on the roof with nice views and not very busy.

I wish they would turn on the heat

Posted Feb 3, 2015
I had to be moved because the first room had no heat. The second one did not work well until the last night. The restaurant had minimal heat as well.

Great overnight stay in the heart of Boston,

Posted Jan 15, 2015
We had a great overnight stay in the lovely old Copley Plaza, which still has one of the most attractive lobbies anyway (only out done by the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai). We were greeted by their two resident black labs with tail wagging, which immediately made us feel welcomed. We liked not having to leave the hotel on a cold night and had a delicious dinner and wine, selected with the help of a very experience staff member originally from Cuba, which we coincidentally will soon be visiting.
