“Inn at Harvard September 27, 2011”
This is a very nice mid-tier hotel just beside the Harvard campus. We found the service a little slow and the rooms small, but the location and surrounding area was beautiful.
“Harvard's boutique hotel”
At the high end in Harvard Square, the two primary choices are the Inn at Harvard and the Charles Hotel. (The Sheraton Commander is a distant third, and the Harvard Square Hotel is a not so good, budget alternative), situated at opposite ends of the Square. The Charles has more amenities (two restaurants, a large fitness center and pool, etc.), but it tends to cost about $100 more per night. Both are good, well-maintained properties built at roughly the same time in the 1980s. The Inn is an upscale boutique hotel with a strong Harvard ambience, a very responsive staff, and a central atrium with the feel of a large living room, which serves as an all-purpose restaurant, lounge, meeting area, etc. Rooms are comfortable, and they’ve recently eliminated the fee for wireless access. The fitness center is barely adequate – a converted hotel room with a couple of bikes, an elliptical machine and a treadmill.
“Great hotel that needs renovation”
I've stayed at the inn at Harvard over the years and always loved it. The staff are friendly and helpful and the location is perfect. However, the rooms need some upgrading, especially the bathrooms. The sink was severely chipped and the shower curtain was shabby. The restaurant is pricey, but the hotel no longer charges for Wifi, which is great, and on weekends it is possible to park overnight on the street and avoid the very high hotel parking fees.
“Great Place in excellent location”
Charming hotel between 5th and broadway.
“Walkin', talkin', and gawkin' in Bean Town”
see above.
“Great location, friendly staff, not a $ bargain”
I arrived early in the morning after catching a red-eye from California. The folks at the Inn at Harvard found me a room and checked me in at 9am! While there aren't many "extras" at the Inn, the location was great and the folks at the Inn were very helpful.
“Great spot in Cambridge”
This hotel was ideal for getting around all of Boston, or for just staying in Cambridge. It was a five minute walk to the subway and we could be anywhere in Boston relatively quickly. If we didn't feel like exploring, we could walk down to the Charles River, another five minute walk, and relax with the newspaper and coffee. There are plenty of good restaurants within 8 blocks of the hotel.
“The Best of Harvard Square”
This is such a wonderful hotel: perfect location, absolutely first-rate facilities and service.
“Great location”
Great location for walking to tour historical sites and many restaurants to choose from. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
“You pay for the location... Nothing else!”
I stayed at the Inn for a couple of nights in March this year. The hotel has a great location but expect little else for the hefty price you pay. The room was average at best. Some of the things encountered during my stay which annoyed me include: 1. Bathroom sink was worn out 2. There were some "dirty" tissues inside the toilet and that was right after i checked in the room (disgusting... i know!) Overall it's poor value for what you pay with the only plus (and y they charge so much) is location of the hotel
