Cons: As mentioned above - rescheduling of when work is done.
I was very disappointed with my stay at the Liberty Hotel. My husband had been admitted to the Cancer Floor at Mass General Hospital and I was looking for a good nights sleep. This I did not get. From midnight until 3:30a.m. there was banging noises outside my room window. There were dumpsters and I believe the banging of the tops and trucks was the noise I heard. I let the desk know about this when I checked out and the girl said that I must have been near a loading dock and offered me a cup of coffee. If this was a loading dock or dumpsters being emptied, I would think that the work would be done when people are not trying to sleep. I sure my stay would have been much nicer if in a different room location. The hotel, itself, is a beautiful hotel. I only stayed that night so I can not remark on the food.

I’m so sorry to hear about your disappointing experience; it disappoints us when we fail to exceed our guest’s expectations. We do appreciate the feedback and agree that trash collection should not interfere with our guest’s sleep this is not something which we schedule and is controlled by the city however I will look into this issue further. I am confident this is an isolated incident and we look forward to welcoming you back and ensuring you have a very positive experience with us.

Great location, unique hotel

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: location, staff, unique property
Cons: chairs in the lobby are very tired, and it's going to go through a rehab soon
Location: Walk along the Charles. Shop on Beacon Hill. Hop on the T and go anywhere. GREAT location!
We needed just one night in Boston after a long weekend on the Cape, and found the Liberty Hotel on Expedia was having a flash sale. Arrived in Boston in the early afternoon, and our experience at Liberty was wonderful. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, getting us into a view room immediately along with a glass of champagne to welcome us. The property is a historical building - a jail that was used for more than 100 years, then abandoned before its' conversion in 2005. Very cool public spaces, interesting design, clever bars and restaurant. It is looking a little tired, but I understand that the rehab to freshen it up begins very soon. Our room was nice, and I loved the location right off of Beacon Hill. Easy to walk, beautiful views of the Charles and Boston's skylines. I'd recommend without hesitation.

Thanks so much for your recent visit! We're glad to hear you enjoyed our location and restaurants. We hope to improve your opinion of our guest rooms on a future visit as being called “average” is not what we like to hear. Thanks again!

Great location

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: The lobby still has the original tiers and cell doors from the era when it was a jail. Close to attractions and hop on hop off trolley stop.
Cons: Not a thing
Location: Close to hop on hop off trolley stop, T D Gardens, Quincey Market, Charles Street, subway rec. Very central, park your car and walk.
Beautiful hotel close to all the sights. Old jail converted to a hotel, rooms are very nicely furnished with a spacious bathroom, separate tub and shower. Friendly helpful staff, perfect place to stay. We would definitely stay again.
