“Quiet Historic Hotel, Great Price”

Originally built in the 15th century, the bastide of King Rene has been renovated into apartment style hotel suites. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel is in a gated compound, very serene and secure. It is ideal for travels with cars and it is about 2km from the city centre. The price is excellent for the quality of the hotel and complex. It is rated as a two star, but would rate a two plus. I would definitely stay here again.

“great hotel”

this was our 2nd trip to aix within 6 months and didn't even consider any other hotels after our first stay. Great value for money. we had 3 adults and a child in the 4 bed apartment. Loads of room. This time we were allocated one of the mezzanine rooms with the double bed up on the mezzanine. Really cool cos of high ceiling. No problems at all.Recommended

“A little Diamond in Axe”

Just came for two nights and have returned for my next vacation same year. Quiet historic with great staff. Bathrooms needs a little love but the building and ground are perfect

The hotel is very nice and a good value. Howerver, it is not centrally located so you need to have a car or be willing to take a long bus ride to get to central ville. Also, get there before dark because it is not easy to find and nearly impossible in the dark. Finally, be aware reception closes at 9pm m-sat and 6pm on sun.

“loved the setting and the history”

Although the hotel is very close to a University Sports park, for the most part, it looks out onto green hills and wilderness. It is close walking distance to a small restaurant in another small hotel. This structure was a monastery from the 1500's then became a hospital for plague victims. It has been rebuilt. The rooms are dorm-like but quite adequate for travelers. The setting is quite interesting to us from Southern California traveling in southern France. We would go back.

“Great for the price”

This hotel was a comfortable place to stay and the staff were very kind. It's a little bit out of the way but easily reached by bus (#6 I think). There is no air conditioning and the room got pretty warm, however it was nice to have a kitchenette. While the place was very clean, the paint in the bathroom was peeling and the carpets could use some updating. Overall a good place to stay, very comfortable, and for the price can't complain.

“Comforts lacking”

The price is decent for 4 in an apt room. However, services are lacking - no AC, no coffee/tea supplies (although there is a coffee maker!!), shower without curtains

We stayed at this hotel during our trip to Provence last week. We were travelling in a group of 6 so I chose this hotel because it was apartment-style and would fit 3 people in each room (in single beds.) It is a great looking hotel from the outside, very quaint and historical. When we came to check-in the receptionist let us know that he gave our room away and that the only room that was left has two double beds. Well, three straight men were supposed to stay in that room and they were very uncomfortable with the idea of sharing a bed. Unwilling to offer us any discounts or special accommodations, the receptionist left us no choice but the rent an additional room. The room we rented was a small single but he charged us the same amount as the large apartment room. Won't stay there again.

“Clean hotel, shabby service”

The hotel itself is well-kept and pleasant. Our room had a view of Mt. Ventoux. However, the service was shabby and the receptionist was rude. The hotel does not have a lift so leave your heavy luggage at home. It is not within walking distance of the center of Aix. It's about an hour into town. A car is necessary.

Thought it would be bigger since it was advertised as an apartment with kitchenette (very small).
