“Step back in time”

A charming, chic, comfortable hotel. Our room was an elegant mix of old and new. No free toileteries in the bathroom, but free wireless in the room made up for that. No separate shower either-just a nice deep tub with a shower hose. Big long widows offered a view of the red tiled rooftops. Elegant breakfast included the best bread I've ever tasted. Steps from the roman amphitheatre and medieval lanes of the old city but also only a short walk to the main avenue. No onsite parking but parking is availale in a covered garage on the main avenue. Surprisingly, there were few nearby restaurants. On the other hand, walking down the dark medieval alleys at night prohibited us from exploring too far.

“Wonderful hotel”

We were kindly accommodated in a ground floor room for accessibility reasons. This was in the super annex across the (narrow) road. The room was comfortable, warm, well equipped. It was not huge, but adequate. The shower room/wet room was lovely, spacious with excellent shower. The decor was nice. The breakfast in the hotel was delicious and generous. Superb freshly squeezed fruit juice, fresh bread and pastries, butter, (homemade?) jams, biscottes, honey and coffee. All beautifully presented in the stylish but comfortable breakfast room. I would recommend it, and would love to stay there again.

“can't believe the price”

Great, no, fabulous location. How often do you need to find your hotel after 10 pm (while dragging luggage from the train station through the snow by the way), wonder if you're on the right street, and then suddenly glimpse an illuminated Roman amphitheater that basically tells you "this way"? I mean, it's not RIGHT behind it, but very close. On a quiet, lovely, little street. Every part of the hotel I could see was gorgeous. My ceiling went up forever (15 ft??) and everything was decorated very nicely. The wifi actually worked in my room, which is not always the case... and the receptionists are nice and helpful even to people who speak about 5 words of French. There is but one thing I can complain of. The breakfast was not in my budget. And I wanted to sit in that gorgeous breakfast room! Also, important for record-breaking-low temperatures: the heater works well.

“Stunning, comfortable and roomy”

We were overwhelmed by the beauty of this hotel. The price was so reasonable, of course we were there off-season. The location was central.

“Recommended!”

Hotel was beautiful and clean. Internet was not working. Breakfast was rather limited for the price. Desk staff was helpful.

“Charming, clean but over-fragranced”

The only problem with this hotel was that the public areas and rooms were overpoweringly over-fragranced for my taste, although others may not mind this so much. The layout of the hotel is quirky and interesting, and everything was immaculately clean. Breakfast (which was extra) looked uninspiring so I went elsewhere.

Area:

Arles, France: Founded by the Greeks in 600 BC, Arles then became ‘little Rome’. Roman remains include a remarkably intact arena (now used for bullfights), baths, theatre and a vast necropolis. But this compact city on the Rhône is perhaps best known for its colourful houses and winding streets, depicted in so many of Van Gogh’s canvases during his prolific period here. The excellent Van Gogh Trail is marked by plaques embedded in the footpaths.
