Very well located, very good service and nice breakfast! they where very helpful all the time, with information where to eat, keeping our bags, upgrades... wow very nice!

“Great,clean, mid-range hotel.”

We stayed at the Escale Oceania Vieux Port for 2 nights prior to boarding a cruise ship leaving from Marseille. The hotel was modern and very clean with wood floors throughout; smallish but not as small as mid-range hotels in Paris. They used space very effectively so that we had a place to put 2 large suitcases and 2 carry-on luggage without having to step all over them or ourselves. All the staff, both the day and the night staff, were extremely helpful and friendly so that we felt very welcomed. The location of the hotel is on the main street of the Vieux Port so you can walk to restaurants in the area. It is quite noisy due to its location but if you want quiet all you need to do is close the french doors which really insulates the room. Marseille, being a port town, is not like other French cities but if you are departing on a cruise and boarding in Marseille, I definitely recommend the Escale Oceania Vieux Port. Also, a side excursion to the Chateau D'If, which was the inspiration for Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo, is very interesting.

“Waterfront Marseille”

The Hotel could not be more central to the Vieux Port. Its charming, clean and safe. Its 20 metres from the tube and is easily accessible from Tube, Buses, tram etc. The rooom in which I stayed had a balcony on to Rue Canabieres and had views of the old port if you stood on the balcony and looked to your right. So although the views are good they are not facing the port. The hotel feels safe (there are some areas of Marseille) that you want to be a little bit careful of but the vieus port and the hotel surrounding area was charming. The hotel room was approximately 4 metres by 5 and was very pleasant, phone, tv, etc. Breakfast was a buffet style and was reasonable although there are plenty of Cafes to choose from outside. The Hotel staff were delightful, helpful and multi lingual. I would rate them very highly.

“Great location, lovely hotel”

Our room was clean and modern, recently renovated and had a balcony overlooking the old harbor. Very comfortable and a location that can't be beat. Front desk staff was friendly and eager to help with plans and restaurant suggestions.

“Clean, great location”

This hotel has been recently refurbished. For 3 stars it has everything you need. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Within walking distance to all areas and conveniently located across from a metro stop and the Tourist Office.

“Newly Rennovated, Great, Safe Location”

Marseille has a reputation for not being the safest place to visit. I researched a lot of properties before I chose this one. I was rennovated in Apr 2009, so everything is new. The room was large, clean and funished with modern Ikea type furniture. The toilet is a separate room from the shower, sink and mirror which is convenient. Location is about a 20 minute walk with luggage from the rail station. Some rooms look out onto the marina area. We always felt 100% safe at this hotel. Expedia had a good rate. Not sure if I could normally afford this hotel. Very happy I chose it over some other nearby old hotels.

“Oceana Hotel”

The room was nice. The price of the breakfeast was outreagous, 10 euros per person. The sheets could have been cleaner, some black stains on it. The room was very confortable, same for the bed. One other downside, you have to have a valid phone number to receive your username and password for the 15 min of free internet. Otherwise you have to pay.

“Great location just off the Old Port”

Just off the Vieux Port, this hotel is in a great location. Recently refurbished in a contemporary style, our room was smart, comfortable, clean and well-presented. The bathroom was immaculate with a large walk-in shower. Staff on reception were pleasant and helpful. We thought our room, given the location and quality, represented good value for money. One small point, there is a pavement cafe immediately outside the hotel entrance where some hippie-types congregate (with their dogs, etc) but don't be put off, they are in the minority and seemed harmless enough!

“Hotel was HIghpoint”

Convenient location, helpful staff and modern/working facilities! Unfortunately, we did not find the city to be in the same order. Major reconstruction projects throughout city that closed a number of the sites we came to visit. Overall the city was 1 while the hotel was 4!
