Great location for hiking and biking and walks to town, excellent breakfast. Very good restaurant. Several rooms have been modernized, most rooms are older but quaint and clean. Stay at hotel several times a year and always enjoy my time .

Dear guest, thank you very much for your review and feedback. Our hotel is located at the south of Breda at the edge of the forrest. The city centre is 3km away from the hotel and accessible via bus, taxi or it is even possible to rent a bike in our hotel. The Ginneken market with some restaurants and bars is within 15 minutes walking distance from the hotel. You can always come to the desk to get some information about the surroundings. Nice hotel opposite the forest
I spent one night at this hotel in a single room. The room was a little dated. I am not a fan of carpets on the floor in hotels - always smells a little dusty. The room and bathroom were very clean. Staff were very friendly. I would stay again.

The single room was basic, but it had all the necessary amenities. In the morning I could hear my neighbor showering, but I guess this is part of the package, when you sleep in an old building. The hotel restaurant is truly amazing, and evens out all the minuses. Also, I loved the Mastbos.

A tired hotel and pretty uncomfy room!
Maybe it depends on the room or amount you pay, but I stayed in a single room - no head board, no TV, an old bed, a tired room. Heating was off when I went in to the room at 5C outside> Quite a tired hotel. I looked at breakfast and decided against paying for it. For 15euros you can do a lot better to eat at the restaurant in the forrest, but be careful with fresh orange juice, 4euros for the smallest portion you can imagine.

Nice quiet hotel
Only stayed one night but was very happy ,room was nice if not a bit dated ,but we tend to find that in keeping with the history of the hotel , it had a good shower and a jacuzzi bath ,beds were very comfortable ,for us the location was good but it is a little far out of the city centre , but it does have the Mastbosch just across the road and I think it’s only about a 20 minute walk from the Ginneken area which has a few restaurants and bars . We ate in the hotel restaurant ( the engineering of the old ceiling fans is great )and can honestly say it was one of the best meals I have had in the Netherlands ,overall I would be very happy to stay in this hotel again .

Hotel was nice, very old fashioned not a problem but not 4star by current standard, no AC, no Fan, no tea and coffee facilities, for price paid was acceptable though. Restaurant was very good lovley setting outside but attention to detail from waiting staff let things down a little.

A clean , comfortable hotel, old worldly hotel
We only stayed for one night and breakfast. The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff very kind and helpful and a very good breakfast.

Like some of the other reviews say, this is a decent hotel with a lot of old world charm - emphasis on the "old." The area is definitely quiet and out of town - with no restaurants or stores around it. The staff are very nice, and the wifi was great, though. I stayed in a single room and it was tiny - I had to move the desk chair out of the way just to get from one side of the room to the other. This hotel was part of an airfare/hotel package I purchased. It wasn't terrible, but I don't think I would go back - I would try for something in town.

Extremely hard to rate this hotel
This is one of TWO different "Golden Tulip" properties in Breda, and is on the outskirts of town not in the center. My work was in the center so it was about 2.5km walk/bike/taxi. I walked, as the weather was nice. This is a pretty old property, kept very much in the same style as it probably was in the 1930s -- right down to the giant wooden key fobs mean to be left at the desk when you go out. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had what it needed to have, but wasn't modern. The small flat screen "monitor/tv" from Sansung actually worked well for my needs because I could hook the laptop to it and use it to play my own stuff. The WIFI was fast for 2/3 of the days, then the 3rd didn't work. I didn't complain and I'm sure it just needed a reset on a local router or something. The only "Bad" thing that happened while I was there, was the last evening they had a major water leak and had to shut down all the water in the hotel while they fixed it. No plumbing until around midnight when they got it fixed. They were out of water bottles but brought up a carafe of water and a glass. The real thing that saves the place is the excellent staff. I'm sure if I'd asked they'd have carted up buckets of warm water for a bath (of course I did not). They helped me with train schedules, taxi arrangements, etc.

The rooms are rather small but it is cleaned properly. The hotel is isolated from the city, which takes 15 min to get to the town on foot. However, the restaurant is excellent in the point of price, service and taste.

The Hotel was easy to find, even arriving late at night. Hotel staff were helpful and efficient. Service was very good, as was the food, although we did find the breakfast a little expensive for what it was. Evening meals were excellent and good value. There was litttle in the way of ameneties, but this was a short stay so these were not missed. Location was excellent, being in the forest yet only a short drive to the main shopping and dining areas of Breda.Overall we enjoyed the stay and will continue to use Tulip Hotels as being good value, with individual character.

But, the bedroom was too basic for the needs of a businessperson - wardrobe too small to fit any shirts/jackets inside, desk chair not comfortable, not enough shelf space for belongings, bed not very comfortable. Good points: quiet location facing the woods which will probably be superb in spring. Good wifi signal. I look forward to coffee on the terrace on my next visit. Restaurant OK. This hotel has character missing from the big chains. I got a good deal and was not bother d by the 14 inch tv.

On the outskirts of town and about a 20 minute walk (5 minute drive) to the interesting city centre. The staff are friendly and we received a warm welcome which good service extends to the busy bar and restaurant which has an interesting menu.

Loved the old world atmosphere
I loved the location of this hotel, right next to the woods where there are various walking trails and yet not too far from center of town. It is very close to another nice part of town (called Ginneken) where it is fun to have dinner or sit on a little terrace. The service was excellent and very friendly and our room quite large and comfortable with two big windows looking out on the woods. It is so nice to have trees right outside your window and not some parking lot. We were on a low floor and I was worried that it would be noisy with the terrace right below us, but that was not the case so we slept with the windows open. We were there at the end of September so it was probably too cold for people to use the terrace until late in the evening. (I don't know what this would be like in the middle of summer).The hotel is old but very well maintained and the age of the property gives it a lot of character and that nice old world atmosphere. Parking was not a problem. I will definitely stay in this hotel again next time I visit Breda.

If you're looking for a nature vacation
I stayed at the hotel for a convention at the city center, which is 4km away. The hotel itself is fine, but I would not recommend it unless you have a vehicle because getting around can be frustrating otherwise.The view is breath-taking, there's wi-fi everywhere.

Quiet location, nice staff but need a car!
The best thing about this hotel is the very pleasant terrace where you can sit in the nice weather and enjoy drinks and snack, popular with locals. The sorrunding forest is very pleasant for walks but if you don't have a car there is nothing around. Breda center is about 5-6km and not really at walking distance, taxis will cost about 10-15 euros. I stayed in a single room and it was quite small, but bathroom had nice shower and quite adequate. The staff in the reception and restaurant are very pleasant, so my visit was ok but definitely need car if you want to get around from the hotel.

mastbos hotel...lots of charm
old hotel with lots of "original" features. One feature is room size for standard room which equals Tokyo. Super small and no room for suitcase. But the place is charming and has lots of atmosphere. So, no business but leisure. Close to forested area and great for any outdoor activity, Upgrade to bigger room and you'll be fine.
