Cons: Road noise, bit sprawled out
Location: Middle of nowhere
Plenty of parking space. Check in is quick and efficient. Sometimes finding your room is an interesting experience sometimes as it's rather a sprawling place, but there's a concierge guy who is very friendly and helpful usually around. Have stayed there quite often and never had a problem with double rooms. Single rooms I've stayed in have been rather cramped and the single beds have been bouncy and uncomfortable, so doubles all the way for me. I've eaten in the restaurant some evenings and the service is good - food excellent, but can take some time for mains to be serviced out of the kitchens. Though when it arrives it's always fresh and delicious. Several menu options to choose from and daily specials. Madras curry was spectacular! Road noise can be heard but it doesn't stop me getting sleep (depending on positioning of your room of course. Main road at front of hotel is very busy. Rooms quiet otherwise. There's a gym and outdoor pool (not used these myself) but they look good. Overall recommended.

we arived at 1pm and the room wasnt ready so we tried to order some lunch .After waiting 10 minutes for service that the receptionist was going to send to us, we went back to reception. I ordered a cheese plougmans and got a cheese salad, when I asked for bread it I got2 slices from a sliced white loaf. In our room we found a tea cup chipped and the bathroom light not working. We went down for breakfast to find 6 members of staff milling around all of whom ignored us. After 5 minutes waiting we sat at a table and waited for service. Another table of guests who had been waiting all this time called over a waiter and asked if they could order, When they had ordered we also stopped the waiter and ordered. When our breakfasts came the waiter took them to another table, and after a discussion with those guests took the breakfasts back to the kitchen before coming out with them again and giving them to us - now lukewarm. Breakfast was not as advertised -only one sausage when two were stated on the menu. The toast and juice were help yourself - only they had both run out. We ordered a pot of tea, which was delivered without a lid - being told by the waiter 'sorry we've run out of lids'. Receptionist seemed to ignore guests who had been waiting to check out and dealt with those who pushed in rather than those who patiently waited. 10 years ago we visited the De rougement and the service has definately gone downhill. Not at all what was expected for the price.

Lovely Hotel - a littly drafty

The stay was good, however I think that the cost of the food is expensive - frozen chips, frozen scampi and frozen peas - I think was £15.95!! The bed could also be better positioned - it was under the window, the curtains were too short and it was drafty. Staff are nice and friendly.
