The garden is lovely, and the restaurant looked beautiful as well, though I didn't have time to eat there. Most important for me is always the bed, which in this case wasn't so great. I don't mind hotels that aren't particularly modern, but there are some modern conveniences I'd rather not go without.
Once you can find the hotel (it isn't in the town of Pontevico, but in the hamlet of Chiesuola nearby) you're ok. The rooms are very generously sized and wifi is available. The bathrooms are very good and the rooms have air conditioning. The hotel is located next to a busy road and there is near-constant traffic. It is easy to get to Cremona from there. Breakfast was quite basic but sufficient. The hotel is a family-run establishment but they seemed a little confused by how an internet booking worked and we had to wait around for quite a while when they were sorting our bill at the end of the stay. The carpark was not clearly marked out for us and so we parked on the road outside the entrance and were told off by one of the staff because it's where he normally parks. The evening menu looked good, although a little pricey.
Hervorragendes Essen, sehr freundliche Menschen, das Hotel selbst hat offensichtlich schon einmal bessere Zeiten erlebt, hat aber immer noch einen gewissen Charme...
