“a pleasant surprise”

Though a little out of the way, I loved the setting. I also enjoyed the quiet of this hotel because I was traveling to get away. I drove from the Brindisi airport in a rental car but I prefer exploring on foot and I walked to the old "white city" on different routes daily. The first portion of the walk toward the city is a little scruffy but the rest is just fine. I am a relatively low-maintenance, independant, but experienced traveler. My room had french doors opening out to the large terrace, and a table with chairs and umbrella was just outside. The room was sufficient and clean. I thought the help was the most congenial I came across in my two week break. The standard breakfast was better presented and better quality than those I experienced at hotels of similar class. The restaurant though, was closed. The pool on the lower terrace was lovely and very well maintained. For my style of traveling this hotel was perfect.

“Not impressed”

The AC didn't work very well, the restaurant on site was closed [so it was a mile or more walk into Ostuni to find a place to eat], and the place seemed well past its prime. No one offered to carry my bags down the stairs to my room. I can manage--but I like to be asked. The people were nice--allowing me to use their computer to check email and giving me directions to walk to a restaurant--but it just didn't measure up to what I expected or found elsewhere in Puglia.

“Don't touch with a barge pole”

Absolutely terrible. Probably once a pleasant place, this hotel is way past its prime. Despite being advertised and illustrated on Expedia, its own website and on signs around Ostuni, the restaurant has closed at the hotel - as the receptionist told me with a little laugh when I asked her where it was. This meant an hour's walking every night to get to a restaurant in the town, and down a dirty, dusty street. There was virtually no staff (or indeed guests) to be seen. Broken glass by the pool side was still there next day. The pool wasn't cleaned, the furniture minimal and broken. The furnishings in the room were also becoming decrepit (for example, the shower door wouldn't shut). Advertised facilities didn't exist (as a typical example, the 'cofee shop/cafe' was an espresso machine behind the reception desk). God knows where the decline will end. Under no circumstances go here!
