“Would use this hotel again.”

We stayed at the Marque for 3days/3nights in Sept. 2011. It is a very nice hotel, but understand that it is an older hotel and probably needs updating. We arrived on Mon. afternoon and the room was warm. The aircon was broken and needed to be fixed. They sent someone not too long after we reported it and they fixed it. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was fine, but the shower looked as if it could be cleaner. (Some mildew in the corners.) The fridge was stocked and there were snacks, but everything cost $ and it was expensive. We bought food/drink and brought it in. The staff was friendly and for the most part helpful. You can't beat the location of the hotel. It was convenient to everything! You could walk anywhere in the city and we were close to the buses and trains. Considering everything, I would stay there again and recommend it as well. Just remember it is not posh, but it is comfortable. And we were happy with that.

Area recommendations

Would recommend the downtown area of Brisbane. There is a lot to do and see. The Queen's St. Mall is fun and has every shop and food store you could imagine. Definitely ride the City Cat up and down the river. That is a great way to see the city. Also, take a trip to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Well worth the time. You can even get there by bus if you don't have a car.

“Convenient and comfortable”

The hotel is conveniently located in the CBD area, and in walking distance to the university (QUT). There are many nice restaurants and shops around. The staff are helpful and friendly. There is also 3 hours of free access to Internet!

“Close to the Botanic Garden and South Bank”

I basicly booked this hotel because of the location. It is a walking distance of the South Bank ( great restaurants and museum/art, next to Brisbane River ). and the Botanic Garden ( nice daily walks). - The hotel itself is "oldish", meaning the rooms are decorated in old fashion. The lobby area is more modern and attracts people for afternoon drinks, quite nice as a meeting place. Our stay did not include a breakfast at the hotel ( served in the lobby daily). They have cold/hot items. We had breakfasts many times at the nearby Pancake House that used to be a church! - The shopping is very close to the hotel, just few blocks away. We walked everywhere! No need to take a cab or bus! Brisbane is a nice city, we managed to be there before flooding.

“Nice hotel”

I stayed at Marque Brisbane for 5 days in February and had a nice stay. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. They helped me out with everything from directions to tour planning. Hotel is located only a couple of block walk from Queen Street Pedestrian Mall, which is filled with shops and restaurants! And less than a ten minute walk to the train station. Also less than a ten minute walk to the south bank and all it's attractions.

“Affordable. Comfortable. Clean.Quiet. Safe.”

I don't think there is anything to complain about if you are looking for basic accomodation. It is affordable, comfortable, clean, quiet, and the general area is safe.

Area recommendations

CBD area to be close to most everything.

Getting there

It is not a short walk from the Central Station especially if you have bags. You're better off taking one of the shuttle buses to and from Brisbane airport.

Getting around

Stop by the Visitor Center for all sorts of brochures and even talk to one of the reps. It is in the Queens St Mall which is a very short distance from the hotel.

“Awesome hotel for the price!”

Only problem was the parking. Street parking was expensive but it was only 20 to park the car at the hotel per day. The hotel was just two blocks from a really nice indoor/outdoor mall.

Area recommendations

I would definitely recommend going to the Koala Park and Gold Coast for the beaches. The night life wasnt the greatest but there is a casino and a pub a block or two away.
