Beautiful building in a terrific area.

Posted Sep 28, 2014
Pros: The room, self- service breakfast and friendly service.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: There is a high street just 5-10mins drive away which has a choice of pubs which serve food.
Me and my partner were greeted by the friendly owner and shown around. The room was gorgeous as was the kitchen and self-service breakfast area. The self-service breakfast was absolutely perfect for us as we had to leave very early in the morning. There was a lovely area to sit outside and parking was ample. Would love to stay again.

Quiet and comfortable

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: The position and views were lovely, and the bed was very comfy. Also a nice pub (The Plough) in a nearby village which served lovely meals.
Cons: The shower facility, and a mirror and hairdryer in the room.
Stayed one night en route to visiting friends. Everything was lovely and clean, and the bed was really comfy. Would have liked a mirror in the room, and something to tell us that a hairdryer was available on request. The shower was over a small bath, with curtain screen - not a comfortable experience. Breakfast was a basic buffet of cereal and toast - help yourself style.

Great B&B

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: Lovely old converted Farmhouse with pretty gardens...
Cons: Lawns need to be kept clear of dog poo! It took me a while to clean off my shoes!...
Location: Not sure as we were travelling through from Devon to South Wales
A warm welcome from the owner along with Buster and Shadow, good night's sleep followed by a good help yourself breakfast...

Friendly, quiet cottage close to tourist areas

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: - Daily breakfast options - Helpful staff - Quiet area - Beautiful landscape and building
Cons: - Internet connection could be more stable. Does not need to be faster or have lower latency (unless they start hosting LAN parties :~} )
Location: Close to Bristol, Cheddar, Bath, Fernhill Farm (Arctangent music festival in late August). Nearby villages include pubs serving locally-brewed ale.
Stayed in a one bedroom. Used local taxis to attend concerts (Arctangent 2014) and tour Bristol proper. Rooms and common areas are clean, and refreshed frequently by staff. Shower was clean and had a good hot water supply. Daily breakfast is available in the shared kitchen - a DIY approach where guests select and prepare their own meals from farm fresh bread, cereal, fruit, juice, tea, coffee, milk. Clean healthy food that helps cut down a traveller's food budget. Much better than what is typically available in 'complementary breakfast' at hotels. Staff are friendly and helpful with planning trips, making calls etc. Grounds are beautiful and serene - an authentic old thatched-roof cottage with cobblestone walls, a large yard and dogs. Situated in farmland - you can wake up with the sound of animals outside and breathe the fresh country air. Good phone service is available. Internet connection is enough to check email, plan trips etc, but not for much else. This is actually an advantage, as you can 'de-internet' yourself for a few days and take in the surroundings. Short trips to Bristol, Fernhill Farm, Bristol Airport. A safe, quiet and wholesome place to return after days spent vacationing in the nearby areas.

Great B&B near Cheddar Gorge

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Lots of character & beautiful location. Very helpful lady owner recommended a great place to eat in the evening too.
Cons: Larger bathrooms
Location: Only a couple of miles from Bristol airport but no plane noise. Cheddar Gorge is only 20 mins or so away
Just a quick one night stay after looking online. Premier Inn was full & this looked nice so a bit of a punt but turned out to be a really beautiful & unique B&B.

Lovely weekend stay

Posted Jun 16, 2014
I stayed with my partner this weekend just gone & we were very lucky with the weather. When we arrived for check in we were greeted in the car park by 2 friendly Labradors who escorted us in, which we ended up playing with each morning. Our room was small but very clean, oldy worldly with a qaint modern bathroom hidden away. You could hear people in the room next door - well giggling on the 1st night, which leads me on to my next point. They kept the doors open to the empty rooms, which seemed the majority on the Fri night, the only prob with this is you wonder why you weren't given 1 of the slightly better one's, (or 1 further away from other guests) having said that it was busy Sat so maybe the fact we were there for 2 nights was why. (All rooms looked lovely) The lady who runs it wasn't around much, not that it mattered to us, when we did see her she was very friendly. You kind of help yourself, use the kitchen and don't have to wash up. Good value for money and in a nice area, the cottage itself is thatched and beautiful, modernised very well! Had a lovely time & would go back & would pay the extra £20 for a better room. Lastly, my partner hit his head 4 times coming out of the low beamed bathroom. It really needs a 'mind your head' sign, seriously! - I did find it funny every time however :)
