Beautiful hotel...lovely area.

Posted Feb 26, 2015
Ive stayed in many hotels with business over the years but I can't honestly say ive ever had a more lovely welcome anywhere! I had a very long drive and practically dropped at reception only to be greeted by lovely lady and the receptionist, who on seeing I was so exhausted offered me a glass of water and cup of tea and I was beyond touched at their kindness...even got a hug which in this day is a rare thing!! I felt absolutely cared for from start to finish!! I can't recommend this hotel enough and I should add that whoever owns the regency hotel? Should be very very proud of your staff!! They are just marvellous!!!

Nice Hotel close to Clifton and Art Galleries.

Posted Feb 21, 2015
Pros: Staff friendly. Clean. Able to park outside front for a limited time.
Cons: Bathroom far too small. Impossible to pee without bumping head on wall. An extra pillow would have been nice. Prior information about parking.
Location: Close to Clifton. Royal West of England and Bristol City Museum round the corner.
Stayed for one night when visiting son. Able to park outside hotel for a limited period of time. Then had to re park in multistory at £10 a day. Easy reach of town centre and Clifton. Found staff helpful and the room was clean. Able to go to theatre and walk back to hotel. Opted to have breakfast at Costa instead of hotel.

Good location, dreadful stay

Posted Dec 20, 2014
We stayed in room 534 (at the back). This was directly above a noisy bar. This kept us awake but we could also hear every movement from the rooms around us. There has been no effort to provide any sound proofing to the rooms. The mattress was appalling and meant that, even after all other noises had died down, it was a very uncomfortable night. The shower in the morning was awful, veering between cold and scolding with any temperature adjustment. In addition, I had called the hotel prior to arrival and they said there was driveway parking so leaving the car would not be a problem. Turns out there is about 4 spaces all of which were full when we arrived so your only option is street parking in the busy residential area (we could not find a space within about 1/4 mile). The only plus points were the receptionist on arrival (very helpful) and its location near a good Italian restaurant.

Good position in town

Posted Dec 19, 2014
Pros: The staff.
Cons: The toilet cistern didn't seem to be connected to the water supply so flushing was not an option and the basin tap was too low to fill the kettle!
Location: It's in a good location and there's loads to do in Bristol
The hotel was a bit basic and the single room was smaller than any other hotel room that I've ever found. There's no lift and the fire doors are badly adjusted so they slam but the staff were lovely. Very helpful and friendly. I did tell them about the toilet problem and I'm sure that they would have addressed this if I had stayed longer than one night. I was looking forward to a drink in the bar but got there at 10.03pm and found the door locked and voices on the other side of it. It closes at 10.00 apparently.. Breakfast was not included and only a (reasonably good) continental breakfast was available but I thought it was quite expensive. Nice chap serving though..

OK Hotel, Terrible parking, Breakfast pricey

Posted Nov 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
Don't even think about staying here if you are bringing a car, If you are not lucky enough to get one of the three spaces in front of the hotel, you could be spending up to 40 Minutes driving round in circles trying to find a parking space within a 10 minute walk. Not their fault, but a shame. Also give the breakfast a miss, you get very little for your money.

Navel Shower. First ever laying down shower.

Posted Nov 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
very polite and friendly when checking in. The room was on the "3rd floor". Which was actually the roof space. Because of this the "shower" if i can call it that reached my navel. It was over a bath, that had no hand rail, I had my first ever laying down shower as this was the only way i could get wet. The roof was so low in the bathroom that i had to bend over to use the toilet. the location was great and I'm sure some of the other rooms must be lovely. If i had known there was a navel shower i would not of stayed here.

Good for sleep, poor for breakfast.

Posted Nov 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
this is a great location for visiting the Clifton area of Bristol. Hotel is clean and tidy. But the breakfast is pathetic. A poor version of a continental breakfast. No cooked breakfast available. And it costs extra. My advice-fine to stay here, but eat elsewhere.

Booked the family room. Decent sized bed with sofa bed in room. Good pressure shower with responsive temperature control. A little noisy at night(stayed over weekend) 1)because of bar downstairs 2)noisy floor boards in combination with elephant heavy footed fellow guests. Window in room wouldn't open so had to open bathroom window and door for ventilation. Friendly service.
