Fabulous place to stay

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: The views, the rooms and the kitchen, the spa, and the restaurants.
Cons: Pullout couch in our room was unusable it was so bad. No cots, so you need it if you have a family of 5 and are in a 2 bedroom unit.
Location: Great location near Tortola. Snorkeling, swimming, sailing, sea kayaking, hiking.
Scrub Island Marriott was a terrific experience for my family. The hotel is as beautiful as the pictures suggest and it is clean, well run, and well maintained. North beach was a fabulous location to spend the day on the island and the pools are beautiful at the main hotel. The staff were helpful and kind and made a real effort to make us comfortable and happy. I was there with my family, but there were also many couples there. I think it would be a great environment for both. The unit we were in had a kitchen with amazing appliances and equipment. The onsite market had everything we needed to keep the kitchen stocked for quick meals. The spa was amazing and had fantastic staff. The marina and bar have more activity at night for people that want to go out, but there are cottages and units that are away from that if you prefer complete quiet. We would definitely go back again.

Everybody should come to Scrub at least once

Posted Aug 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is breathtaking and all of the staff is so friendly. The food is delicious. Their key lime pie is to die for. A hotel shuttle picked us up at the airport and took us on a 30 second ride to Trellis Bay where a hotel ferry was there to take us and another couple to the hotel. We got a welcome rum punch. We had a one bedroom suite with full kitchen that had a large balcony with a spectacular view. They offer L'Occitane amenities and leave two bottles of water every night. We took a one day cruise to Norman Island and snorkeled the Caves and the Indians aboard the 80 ft Silver Queen where Paul and Diane had very interesting stories and recommendations about the BVIs. Can't wait to go back to Scrub!

Pros: Where it was located.
Cons: The lack of handrails.
The only thing about this hotel that was neg. was the amount of stairs. I find it hard to go up stairs that don't have handrails. If it wasn't for my husbands help it would have been even more difficult. Overall it is beautiful, the staff was very accomm odating when we had a early flight.

Nicest staff in the BVI

Posted May 7, 2014
Pros: Setting, facility and staff
Exceptional service, friendly staff and beautiful facilities! We sailed for a week in the BVI and then concluded our vacation with three days at Scrub Island Resort. Many "locals" that worked in the different restaurants and locations that we visited were rude, and inhospitable! Islander attitude left us thinking that this would be our last trip to the area. Then, we experienced Scrub Island's wonderful and welcoming staff. The restaurants on site were very good, and service was excellent! We stayed in a one bedroom suite that was beautiful. The views and pool made our stay lovely. We have decided to return to BVI and day sail out of the resort's marina in the future. We want to bring family with us and stay in one of their beautiful villas as well.

US style comfort in BVI

Posted Apr 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
I stayed at the Scrub Island resort on business - I was attending a conference. The hotel was good but lacked a little Caribbean charm. I stayed in a suite which had a fully equipped kitchen which I barely used. I would have preferred a mini bar. The service at breakfast was typically Caribbean; terribly slow. Other delegates stayed at a resort on Virgin Gorda which, by all accounts, was better suited to a beach style holiday. The hotel is quiet - the staff all seem to knock off at around 11.00 PM to catch the last ferry back to Tortola so do not expect a lively atmosphere. In summary, Scrub Island is a great place to stay but I think that there are better places to stay in BVI or the Caribbean

Terrific views, poor food and service.

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Pros: Views from villa.
Cons: Food and service.
Location: Access to lots of islands and airport. Feels like a holiday/airport hotel with good views.
Terrific views from villas but main resort view towards airport. Main beach not great. Sea lovely colour. Strong currents. Other beaches beautiful but too much coral too swim. Food is generally terrible. Formal restaurant is ok. North beach restaurant food is as bad as it gets and informal restaurant in hotel is very disappointing particularly if you stay for more than 2 nights. Service is poor and not 5 star. No pool or beach service. Hotel brand doesn't manage expectations. Spa is only a massage room but with a great massage. Pool is too small and only for social use... Rough around the edges but ok if you just need a bed for night for 2.

Lovely hotel on it's own island. A bit pricey, but enjoyed it very much.

Luxurious, secluded getaway

Posted Oct 12, 2013
Pros: View from the infinity pool..swim up bar, live music and wonderful room.
Cons: Some restaurants and facilities were not open either do to the season. Meal prices extremely high. Too many stairs!
Location: Private island feel, so activities are through the hotel. Marina for boating, swimming, paddle boarding, snorkling, scuba diving & hiking
My husband and I had never been to BVI. The purpose of our visit was to take out a sailing yacht that we were thinking of purchasing and tour the islands. We then wanted some "down time" to relax and unwind. Not only was the hotel, room, marina, pools and food wonderful at Scrub Island...the staff went out of their way to make sure all of our needs were taken care of. Nothing like having your own ferry ride from Tortola to the island and being greeted at the dock by a smile and a rum drink. Can't wait to go back!
