Brookdale Inn and SpaPosted Sep 6, 2011 on Hotels.com
The hotel is not a spa, run down, no amenities. The cheapest in Ben Lomand where we had business. Would not stay there again.

Brookdale Spa is a piece of historyPosted Sep 1, 2011 on Hotels.com
Currently in a state of remodel, it appears the hotel will be nice when it is completed. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. It has some beautiful architecture that you don't see much anymore; stained glass and carved wood construction. Be prepared for a 20 to 30 minute ride down to Santa Cruz, but we felt the cost of the stay was a real help for us during these tough economic times and didn't mind the trip.

Closed at 8pmPosted Aug 22, 2011 on Hotels.com
There was no one there after 8pm. I don't understand why they are in the hotel business. The cell phone reception is the area was horrible so be there before 8pm otherwise you're really stuck. They did refund my money because they were closed when I arrived there.

Brookdale inn and spaPosted Aug 18, 2011 on Hotels.com
horrible! I wouldn`t call this a hotel/motel. First it took us a long time to check in. First we came into the hall and the lady from the reception was busy at the moment so she recommend us to visit a little bit hotel and its rooms. We saw a room who was used to be the dining room. I saw two papers on the wall. One from a healthy inspector who has closed the room. Another paper was from the construction department who claimed, that the room isn`t safe at all. Afterwards we went back to the reception there the hotel manager and another guy were discussing something. The woman from the reception was also in the office, just listening to them but didn`t come to us for doing the check in stuff. Suddenly the closed the door, but without saying something to us altough they saw us!! After 20 minutes they came back and we could finally do the check in. Also the hotel manager came, but was not wearing socks walked away...!!disgusting!The room was quite old and smelled also like this like an old museum....the carpet was also very disgusting!!!pay better a little bit moore than staying in this hotel. I never expect a lot for these prices but for this hotel is every dollar too much!

SadPosted Aug 6, 2011 on Hotels.com
I've stayed in some of the dirtiest hostels in Europe, but this place takes the cake. The room was a disaster and this place should be condemned. Our room had not been cleaned--there was hair and bugs in the shower, no towels, no bedding, fecal matter on the toilet, and the floor had not been vacuumed. The office was closed by the time we got to our room and fortunately, I had packed a sleeping bag. We had to use t-shirts for pillow cases and turn the heater up to stay warm through the night. This place was scary enough to make us consider sleeping in the car. Early am the next morning, we went to get a refund--the staff was so unsurprised at the condition of the room that before I could finish telling him the state of the room he had already said he'd get us a complete refund. What's sad is that this place has amazing potential and is in a truly beautiful setting. Never ever stay here.

Brookdale LodgePosted Aug 2, 2011 on Hotels.com
Good value for the low price we received through a special offer, but it does have some drawbacks. The room was quite large, and had a table and sitting room overlooking a balcony, but overall the room was not very updated. The outside of hotel has been recently remodeled, but it looks like they didn't get to the room interiors yet. There was also a fair amount of traffic noise in the room we were in, so we used earplugs.

Wonderful getaway in the redwoodsPosted Jul 30, 2011 on Hotels.com
What a wonderful experience! The Brookdale Inn is a great getaway in the redwoods on a quiet stretch of highway. The rooms were spacious with two queens, so plenty of room to stretch out. There are renovations going on, but nothing that interfered with our stay. We made the choice to go inland for the night rather than stay in town where it's noisier. No regrets and plan to go back!

Brookedale inn and spa- close to Santa CruzPosted Jul 28, 2011 on Hotels.com
The hotel, motel, inn. "& spa" well Nothings great about it. Other than the spooky ghost history pamphlet the registrar left me. If you like a good scare then walk around the place in the middle of the night. The staff. Leaves at 8. So any towels, soap, ice you need, you won't be able to get. Especially if you scream. No one can hear you. When we got their we drove up a never ending winding hill, very dangerous! To say the least. And the hotel is under renovations. Part of it seemed burned down. They have a cafe, laundry room, grocery store, giant pool area, and dining hall with terrace. A river goes through their resteraunt! Incredible. But it's under renovations. It's close to Santa Cruz and the air is perfect and crisp! A great party spot after their done renovating

Brookdale InnPosted Jul 27, 2011 on Hotels.com
My experience with this hotel was one of the worst that I have encountered. I honestly didn't know that a hotel like this existed in the United States. I had originally booked with this hotel because it was cheap and seemed nice enough, but I was very wrong. I had business during the day and I just booked the room to sleep which is exactly what I wasn’t able to do the two nights that I was there. From the moment we drove into the parking lot it looked abandoned and broken down. They are supposedly under construction, but it doesn’t seem like they are fixing anything. The first night we were there they gave the room above us to a family with small children and you can imagine how well we slept that night. As if the night before wasn’t bad enough, the second night the hotel seemed to be hosting a concert in their banquet hall. When that ended all the people went back to their rooms but started screaming, drinking, playing loud music, throwing fireworks and so on. After hours of these disturbances I went to the front desk to ask them to switch my room, but it turns out that there’s no one on duty there at night. We ended up having to call the police and report the public disturbance and on top of that my whole family had to sleep in the car.
