Great Hotel but something is missingPosted Mar 22, 2015
Probably the most expensive hotel in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area. Very nice rooms and baths--even though they never seem to have the plush robes they (maybe-used to) advertise. But really?? No do-it-yourself coffee in the room or a carafe of help-your-self in the lobby in the morning. I don't think I should have to pay for a cup of coffee when I am paying over $200 mid week and closer to $350 on weekends for a room. And...the bar is never open. They have a bar in the lobby and another on the 8th floor (the restaurant was closed last time we were there) BUT you cannot get a drink at 10:15pm because they have closed up for the night and the staff who are there cannot serve you. Really??

Very disappointingPosted Mar 9, 2015
Pros: It was clean, had bamboo flooring, & no carpeting, which I liked. The bed was very clean & comfortable, with lots of pillows. The hotel well located
Cons: The shower situation- more storage room for toiletries in the bathroom. There should be clocks in rooms, & less cramped .
Location: It was convenient for my needs, pleasant, in being near a park. Safe neighborhood.
I was very disappointed in or room, especially considering what I paid for this one night's stay with my daughter. The king sized bed barely fit in the room, & there was no couch that pulled out to a bed in the room, as I'd been told. There was a rocking chair, but no room to rock in it. The wallpaper was peeling in a section. The mirror was behind the bed area, so it couldn't be used to put on make-up. We could find no clock in the room at all, & asked if they could be provided one. They asked that we check our room phone to see if there was one on it - there wasn't. They called back, saying they couldn't locate any clock to bring to our room, then called again, asking if we wanted them to bring another phone, but we declined, deciding to just rely on our watches. Also, the shower had only a partial glass door, which was very pretty, but leaked when we used the hand held shower, causing the rest of the bathroom floor to get wet, very wet! Not only that, but there was no room for toiletries on the vanity, so I had to squish my things underneath where the towels were.

Brooklyn visit.Posted Feb 14, 2015
We enjoyed our stay at the McCarren. Both our daughters live of Bedford and it was so convenient for us to just walk to their apartments. Great coffee shops and dining all within walking distance. It will be great to go back in the spring and enjoy the park. Hotel was very comfortable after long days out and about.

Good HotelPosted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: It is clean and new, the personnel is very good.
Cons: Change the chair, for a higher chair, and put a higher stool to use the desk.
Location: It is very good situated, lots of restaurants in the area.
The Hotel is very good situated, but as many Hotels in NY, the room is too small. There is no sitting area, and the desk is to low to work on. There is a rocking chair that also is very low, very unconfortable. The personnel is very good and nice. The bathroom is small but clean, the walking shower is very good. The closet area is very small. For a short stay I recommend it.

ruhiges Stadthotel in Williamsburg/BrooklynPosted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: Sehr gute Erreichbarkeit von Manhattan Zimmer / Bad / Restaurant und Aussicht von der Roof Top Bar
Cons: Breakfast to go sollte etwas reichhaltiger sein

Not worth the pricePosted Dec 23, 2014
Pros: The location; staff
Cons: Room size; updated mattress/bedding
If you want a hotel in a hip Brooklyn neighborhood you cannot beat the location of the McCarren Hotel & Pool. However, our experience was not worth the price we paid for the room. The first room we were given did not have functioning lights. After calling down to the front desk it took over 20 minutes for us to be moved to a new room. The new room, while clean, was incredibly small with barely enough room to navigate around the bed. With our suitcases we were cramped to say the least. I am a frequent traveler and this bed was one of the most uncomfortable I have slept on in recent memory. Despite having slept in for several hours we woke up the next morning exhausted. Overall, the staff was friendly (and even provided us with drink vouchers for the inconvenience re: our first room) but the room was not up to par. If the price point per night was dropped I would consider staying again, however, until then there are more than enough modern, luxe hotels in NYC to choose from.

Exactly what we were looking for; a cute place to relax before and after going to night clubs within walking distance.

Lack of management in generalPosted Nov 22, 2014
A rooftop bar where they forgot to refill the white wine.........breakfast very poor, long wait, staff which clearly lacked instructions, a pity and unnecessary!!! You cannot expect to have concerned employees if you aren't yourself through invisibility.
