“I stay there every time I go”

I have to travel to Brownsville for business often and everytime I go I stay at this hotel. It has a convenient location and I am always well taken care of.

We loved the hoetl. It was perfect and CLEAN!! It was big and well maintained! We were very impressed!!

“Great Bargain: Stayed twice!”

I am a 43 year-old white male college professor who used to travel for a living. I have stayed at the Boca Chica Inn for two visits, three-day weekends each time, and I found it to be a great value. NO, it is NOT a 5-Star hotel; you won't find a fitness center, jacuzzi, WiFi, or business office facilities here. What you DO get is a cheap, relatively clean room that is located very close to everything including the airport, Walmart, Target, Burlington Coat Factory, Walgreens, and a Family Thrift you can actually walk to across the parking lot, all either on or within sight of Boca Chica Blvd. Also, several food places and grocery stores located nearby. Turn left out of parking lot and I77/83 is 1 mile. Turn right out of the parking lot, take a left at the next intersection, and you are on your way to South Padre Island (about 25 miles). The local library is 4 miles away, so go there to get internet/printing services (print a free pass to local gyms while you are at it). I felt safe there, many families with children staying, but I wouldn't advise young females traveling alone or with female-only friends to stay there; nowadays, you better NOT let your daughter/sister/niece travel ANYWHERE without combat support. I found the staff to be very friendly, same folks both times I stayed. Use common sense and be safe.

“Hotel to sleep in”

Overall it was an okay experience. It is not near any attractions, so we had to drive everywhere. However, the cleanliness and hotel staff were good.

“very clean and comfy”

The only thing I didn't like was that the room was supposed to have a microwave and a hairdryer and it had neither. The staff was very friendly.

“Not bad.”

The pool looked a little small, none of the vending machines worked (not their fault, though they should look into a different vending company; clerk said the machines have not been serviced in over a month), and the clerk forgot to turn on the hot tub. There is a panel of switches on the wall behind the service desk that the staff uses to turn on/off electrical power to the rooms. Never seen anything like it before, and it was a bit unnerving at first: someone controlling your lights and hot tub. I'm sure other hotels have it, and keep it hidden behind the desk. The building is adjancent to railroad tracks, but we never heard or saw any trains pass. The room was very clean and spacious. The cleaning staff was friendly and accomodating. The air conditioning (it was a relatively mild 94 degrees F in Browntown) was excellent and was complimented by a ceiling fan.

“That is ok but....”

I arrived to this hotel at 12:00 a.m., but nobody was on the reception, only a sign...."We cannot open until 2:00 a.m:", we need to wait until one person can give me the key for the room in my car...with 90 farenheit... The room was ok, near to the pool, the pool had some trash inside....but if you need the room for sleep, is ok.

“Not impressed”

I want to start out by saying I manage a 20 room in, so realize what 'service' should be. Motel is on railroad track on the "main drag". It is not well kept up.1/2 of front door broken. Pop machine not full, no signage stating that. Night desk staff seemed efficient. However, next shift was useless. I did not get my early wakeup call. He was not sure what cab company was supposed to pick me up at 4:15AM, so he could not call to confirm. When I arrived, air conditioner in the room did not seem to work. It was still hot at 10pm and I requested another room, and was basically blown off. However I finally figured out that the dials worked in reverse. I will say the room was well kept and very clean. Most of the guests seemed to be male construction workers and it did not feel very comfortable/safe having to go down to the lobby as a single woman. I wonder what their hotel in like on the beach in the next town over?

“Disappointed”

We were very disappointed with the room at this hotel. We've stayed there before and it was nice, but now, I guess they're under new management because the quality of the room has just gone downhill. The landscaping looked like it hadn't been maintained in a while. The pool water was green and had alot of trash in it. The toilet in our first room had a pubic hair on the seat and when we asked for another room, the second one had pee all over that toilet seat. Neighbors had loud music all nighgt and nobody seemed to care.

“Don't go here.”

The room had no cover over the exposed light. The lights over the bed did not work due to bad switch. The room was not the cleanest. They had to give me three different rooms before I was happy due to things ether not there or not working. The bed was ok to sleep in and the internet connection worked fine. The breakfast was really poor. The hotel maids complained that there was no milk for cereal and no sweet rolls, nothing else. I went out to get breakfast. The parking was good for the car. This hotel did not live up to what was said about it in the write up about it.
