1 huge problem

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Our stay at the Country Inn was unpleasant due to the desk lady up front. Her attitude from the get go was unfriendly. She gave us our access cards to the hotel and to our surprise it was an occupied room. She insisted it was empty, but the luggage, messy beds, and lights on were enough evidence to declare otherwise. She ended up giving us a new room without apologizing. In the middle of the night, she called to tell us that she gave us the wrong room. Are you kidding me?!? She made the mistake since our arrival and now expected us to move rooms in the middle of the night. On top of all that, she changed our access cards and told me I was wrong when I told her the room i was staying in. Never staying there again.

Will never stay here again

Posted Jul 20, 2014
After checking in, we went to the room. It did not feel clean and things that should have been cleaned were not. We pulled covers back to the bed to discover hair and crumbs in the bed. We asked to switch rooms. The second room was occupied by someone else and the third room the lights in back half of suite would not come on. We were finally moved to the 3rd floor and was able to put the family.to bed. It was very frustrating at 1030 at.night having to run around the hotel trying to find a room because we have 2 kids under the age of 3. I will say the girl at the front desk was very nice in getting us switched but I feel like the rooms did not make up for it. We stayed the next night at another hotel that was fabulous and was the same price per night.

One Night Stay During After a Long Drive

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: I liked the price - it was inexpensive. Maybe that was my problem - I had too high of expectations for the price range!
Cons: Cleanliness. The room wasn't filthy, but it wasn't clean either. When I got out of the shower and grabbed a towel, someone else's hair fell out!
I booked this hotel 6 months in advance as a place to rest our heads during a long travel. We were traveling with 2 adults and our teenage son. We arrived at 11pm and noticed half of the lights on the sign out front were out - I see this was a sign of what was to come. We requested to have 2 queen beds, but upon arrival we were given a room with only a king size bed and told "it had been happening all day and they don't know why the system is doing this." The room wasn't very clean. There was rust around the faucets and hair in the bath tub and on the counter. You can tell they tried to remodel this place, but the follow through wasn't very good. The breakfast was equally disappointing. We were not very pleased with the cleanliness or amenities offered at this hotel. We would not stay here again.

Pros: The staff
Cons: The pool
Location: That was fine
The room was musty. The bathroom had no railings and the toilet was very low. The pool was dirty and the pool tile crumbling. The staff were polite and nice. I did like the dining room open at 6. A couple of the exercise equipment machines did not work. We did not spend much time there, but I expected more.

Hotel staff accommodating. Upon arrival a swift check in. Arriving in my room, the toilet would not flush properly. Staff moved me to another room, this one larger. That was a nice surprise. The breakfast lady was busy and spoke to me. Staff gets an "A" from me. Recommendations for the property: 1. Replace the furniture inside the rooms. The sitting chairs were incredibly worn, making them look dirty. 2. Renovate the rooms. Walls, corners, baseboards, and windows. My window you could not see out of, as the pane seal was blown and moisture was in between. 3. Carpet needs replaced badly. 4. Better shower heads. Many hotels are going to a 3" giving a more pleasurable shower. 5. Hot items on the breakfast bar were not good. I would recommend only offering a continental breakfast if this is the offering. Oatmeal was a good touch. I would recommend sausage gravy and biscuits with scrambled eggs. Sausage gravy holds up well in chaffing dishes.

Better than most other hotels in the area.

Pros: Bed was quite comfortable and it was very quiet and clean.
Cons: A/C in room could work better and the refrigerator needs to be fixed as it was constantly leaking water.
Location: Centrally located to South Padre Island (about 40 minutes or less) and McAllen/Edinburgh areas (about 45 minutes)
Front staff were quite pleasant. The hotel room was quite clean. The bathroom and tub area were a little worn down. The refrigerator was constantly leaking water. Bed was quite comfortable. The hotel gives you an HBO guide, but HBO and other movie channels such as Showtime not available. Air conditioner did not work that great as it kept the room a little humid. The breakfast was quite surprising good and the staff person in the breakfast room was super sweet.

The bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed breakfast but would prefer a little more fresh fruit.
