stayed at the hotel etap between may 30th-june 3rd 2011.When you leave Bruges railway station look to your right and you will see an out of keeping concrete high rise building.Head towards steps on right and climb stairs or use moving stairway.At top walk past "saturn"electrical store until you come to stairs/lifts on right hand side climb stairs/use lift.At top 40 meteres is hotel Etap.The Etap is a modern hotel and you will find your room basic but spotlessly clean.Towels changed every day.Reception staff very friendly and efficient.I lost my suitcase keys and Ronny on reception spent a great deal of time cutting through my lock and told me where I could get another.I also called on Ron to retrieve my camera from the taxi/restaurant where I had left it one night.The hotel cleaning staff were very efficient and friendly too.The Etap is about a 15 minute walk from the town centre which is easy to find.Cross the station square.Cross the main road using the traffic light controlled crossing.Follow the road signed Oostmeers this will lead you the concertbouw theatre.From there you can find anywhere.I would highly recommend the Etap.

“Very clean and comfortable, right next to station and affordable+++++”

We booked this hotel because of its location, assuming it would be very basic and not up to much, given the price. We were very pleasantly surprised. The room, whilst small, was adequate for the one night we stayed and was extremely clean. There's TV in the room which shows UK channels and we also opten for the continental breakfast which was seven euros. The hotel appears very new and even though it's next to the station, there was no train noise because there is double-glazing. It's a five or so minute walk into the centre of Bruges and is ideal if you just want to stay for one or two nights. We feel we got value for money.

“Perfect for short visit”

I stayed in the hotel with my girlfriend just for one night and we were really pleased. The hotel is modern, the room was small but we didn't need anything bigger. The bed was big enough and quite comfortable. Everything was perfectly clean. First we thought we would have to take a bus or taxi to the city centre but when we arrived we found out it's just about 15 minutes nice walk. The hotel is right next to the main train station but as others mentioned when the window is closed you can't hear any trains at all. The room had A/C so there was no need to open the window anyway. There's also a large two levels car park which doesn't belong to the hotel but to the train station. You have to pay but it's only 2.5 EUR for 24h so no big deal. Overall I would recommend the place for cheap clean overnight stay.

“An ideal base to visit Bruges”

We stayed in the Etap Hotel Bruges for 4 nights in October 2011. We can thoroughly recommend this hotel for those who like cleanliness and helpful staff without paying over-the-top room rates. It is situated next to the train and bus station so convenient for getting around. They offer an all-you-can eat buffet continental buffet breakfast for 7 euros, plenty to set you up for the day. The room layout is rather quirky with the shower cubicle being in the main sleeping area so maybe not for the shy type!!

“Excellent budget hotel in Brugge”

A nice modern newly built hotel, right by the central station. It doesn't have the charms of some of the older hotels in the historical center, however if you're on a budget you can't go wrong. The hotel is walking distance to the center ~ 10 minutes. If you are driving to Brugge, then this hotel is also perfect, as it is connected to the central station parking garage which is very inexpensive.

“Brilliant, convenient Brugge hotel”

Really helpful staff, handed us a map as soon as we arrived, let us know where useful things were. Rooms are modern and well furnished. Compact, but really comfortable. Great location: 500m from train station, and a short walk into town. Only complaint was a rather thin toilet door, so feeling like you're still in the same room. Otherwise all brilliant.

--Greeted at the front desk with a map and a list of events. --Color-changing showerhead: green is cold; blue is warm; red is hot: heat sensitive lights change with the water temperature. --Vending machines offer snack items, nothing substantial, and beverages; --No phones in the room (I used my cell phone to call the front desk to notify them of the fight next door) --Excellent TV selection (BBC1, 2, and ITV, in addition to the regional stations) --Separate toilet; shower and small sink in the room: not for shy people!! --Two small pillows; two hand towels; two bath towels; multi-purpose soap dispenser in shower --Free computer in the lobby Brugges is a walkable city, but the buses will take you downtown. After about 9 PM in the off season, there are not too many choices, if any, in the area of the Etap hotel. During the day, visit the nice bistro "Bean around the world" near the statue of Jan Van Eyck.
