“well impressed”

Welcoming reception, friendly staff. Breakfast excellent. Comfortable, clean room. Only minus point no tea/coffee making facilities in room. We never thought to check beforehand as every hotel we've stayed in has supplied this. Having said that it wasn't the end of the world as you could have drinks in the downstairs lounge. Location was excellent, only five minute walk from restaurants and coffee shops and other tourist attractions.

“Can't say enough good things”

This is a lovely hotel and extremely good value for money. The rooms are charming and clean, and the breakfasts were excellent. However, it was the wonderful service that we received that made it such a pleasure to be there. On the last night of our stay, my wife who was pregnant started getting labour pains! By 8am in the morning we felt we needed to go to hospital but had no idea where to go. We asked if the hotel manager could advise where we should go and how to get a taxi, but he offered to take us himself in this own car. He drove us to an excellent hospital where my wife gave birth 5 hours later to a lovely son. A couple of days, the hotel owner and his wife came and visited us in hospital to see how we were doing. Then the day we were to leave he drove me to a shopping centre to buy a carry cot for the new born and then later took us to the train station. I think you would have to travel a long way to find a better experience than what we have had with Hotel Albert I.

“Ideal Location”

We travel to Bruges via Eurostar, picking up the train at Ebbesfleet, disembarking at Brussels and then a second train from Brussels to Bruges. Trains from Brussels to Bruges run every 30 minutes, so no hanging about. The hotel is around 15minutes walk from Bruges station and is situated opposite the concert hall. The main city square is approx 15 minute walk through wonderful old streets. One note for the ladies, due to the cobbled streets, forget you high heels. Highly recommend the 30 minute boat trips. Every where we went we were warmly welcomed. When eating out I would heartily recommend the Flemis delicacies of stewed rabbit, Flemish fish soup and Flemish stew as well as moulles and frittes. Recommend the My wife and I will be returning.

“Brugges's Little Secret!”

Lovely little family hotel, opposite the bus station by the Fountain , and about 3/4 mile from the train station and about 1/2 from the market square Town Centre, very comfortable and well kept hotel our room was a little tired although very clean and a comfortable bed, the onsuite was of a very good standard, usual soaps shmpoo's etc, no tea or coffee facilities, which was ashame as needed a cupper on return from our days out, breakfast was superb plenty of everything, no evening meals though, staff very helpful let us leave our cases until 3pm when our taxi picked us up for our return trip home. The Saturday Market is well worth a wonder around. Well recommended, Beware eating out in Brugges is very exspensive!

“Very cosy and friendly”

Hotel owner and stuff are very friendly and helpful. I almost felt like staying nice B&B rather than hotel. Breakfast was hearty and tasty. I will definitely stay this hotel again if I have a chance to back to Brugge. Location was perfect too. Tourist information, restaurants was just across the street. It is worth staying just to meet these friendly nice hotel stuff.

“An excellent hotel!”

We had a very enjoyable stay in this hotel. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. It is a short walk into the heart of the city, also not far from the railway station, parks, etc. The buffet breakfasts were excellent - so much to chose from and very fresh. Our room was very clean and comfortable - probably one of the best stays in a hotel we have had for a long time! We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we will definately stay there again. As a previous reviewer stated - ladies, don't take high heels unless you are used to walking on cobbled streets in them - forget vanity, go for comfort! There is so much to see and you end up walking a lot further than you intended. We would highly suggest taking one of the canal boat trips - you get to see some bits that would be otherwise inaccessible. Our pilot on our boat was excellent - very informative. Overall, Bruges is a gem! One of the nicest cities we have ever been to.

“Excellent value”

Centrally located within easy walking distance of the Train Station and all major attractions. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast value is understated. Would use again and certainly recommend Hotel Albert 1 to others for a City Break.

“Good choice for Bruges”

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the end of September 2011. We found it to be a good choice. The room was spacious by European standards and decorated in a classic style. Breakfast was included in the rate and was very good. Service by hotel staff, particularly at breakfast and in terms of helping with such things as what to see and reasonable restaurants to choose from for supper, was very good. They have a computer with internet access available for a nominal charge if you don't carry your own. There is no elevator so we did have to carry suitcases up one level. The hotel is clean, well maintained, and fairly classy for a three star. The hotel gives a card that entitles you to a discount on museum admissions and other things because you are staying at a hotel in Bruges (probably part of a larger promotion but still it saved money). The hotel is at the western edge of the old city and all attractions are within easy walking distance. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the train and bus stations. It is located on a fairly busy street with a de Lijn transit terminal across the street. Noise wasn't an issue with the windows closed and we slept soundly. The terminal proved convenient a couple of times.

“Perfect Location for all the sights”

Just got back from a 2 night stay in Brugge at the Hotel Albert I. The hotel was very well placed and only a 5 minute walk to the city centre. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff are extrememly friendly and helpful. Unfortunatly there is no parking available but opposite the hotel is a large underground car park which cost us around 8.70 euro for 24 hours parking which we found incredibly cheap for a city. The room itself was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. the only downside is there are no tea or coffee making facilities and it got very warm with no air con. The complimentary breakfast the following morning was superb with lots of choice, and the service was excellent. We will be returning to Brugge at some point and when we do we will definately be staying in this hotel again.

“Friendly Hotel would definitely go back.”

The staff at the Albert were there to please and made out stay most enjoyable, they were very friendly and always had time to answer questions. The location is 10 minutes walk , through the park, from the railway station. The buses all stop opposite the hotel so if you want to rest your legs, you will walk for miles in Bruges, you can hop on a bus. We stayed on second floor and the stairs are steep, our room was small with comfortable beds and excellent bathroom. The bedroom looks a little tired and the colour scheme was a bit dull. The kind gentleman on reception carried our cases up and down. The breakfast was very good, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, boiled eggs, selection of meats and cheeses and scrumptious pate, variety of breads, light as a feather croissants, fresh fruit, juice and as much tea and coffee as you want. If you fancy a trip to the sea whilst in Bruges Oostend is only 12 minutes on the train.
