Posted Jan 13, 2015

Not family friendly

Posted Dec 30, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: Different pillows, one duvet and a little bleach in the bathroom.
Location: You can easily walk to everything of interest in Bruges. Location is great.
We were in Bruges for a family reunion. Part of the family stayed at another locations, but we thought we should spoil ourselves with an upgrade to three Executive rooms in a very nice hotel that had parking. Check in was friendly enough, but when we returned to the hotel after dining out (the hotel did not have a restaurant) for a nightcap and cigars, it started to go down hill. Sven, the night manager, became very rude and arrogant. We understand there are rules in hotels, but the rules do not have to be delivered snidely, e.g., no personal food or drink in the common areas, no soft drinks allowed at breakfast, etc. Every interchange with Sven was more rude and arrogant than the last. We decided that we weren't being singled out for his unpleasant attitude because we were American. Instead we prefer to think that Sven is just a miserable person and treats all customers with such a smug and derision. BTW, we stayed in 203 and there was mold in the shower, the laminate "wood carving" was peeling off the inside of the bathroom door, the decorative square pillows were hard and not conducive to sleeping and the use of two single duvets on a king bed was awkward. But then again, we may have been extra picky because we were talked to in a dismissive manner for four days.

Christmas break

Posted Dec 21, 2014
Pros: A great hotel for the Christmas Markets. The hotel reception rooms were decorated in a traditional and festive way. The buffet breakfast is a must.
Cons: A choice of pillow sizes.
Location: The shops. Chocolate factory. The churches especially the Church of Our Lady where the Madonna and Child is located.
We had two days in Bruges and enjoyed walking around this quaint historic town. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. We visited the Chocolate Factory where we saw a demonstration of the chocolate being made and was able to sample the finished product - which was delicious! There are numerous chocolate shops around with great selections. We found the Belgian people very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return in the future.

Great hotel and location!

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Cons: Would suggest having some fruit/herbal teas in the room as there is only regular breakfast tea and coffee (too much caffeine before bed!)
We booked this hotel to visit the Christmas markets. The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of all the major sights and markets. Hotel staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely return.

Very nice luxurious hotel close to the city centre

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Pros: It was very luxurious and the staff were helpful and polite.
Cons: Turning the heating down.
Location: Central location gave easy access to the centre. Christmas market had started and there were art galleries, museums, shops, and teashops in easy reach
Had a wonderful time in the city and the hotel was perfect for getting in to the centre. Had a very pleasant stay at the hotel, lovely room and great breakfast.

Stylish hotel at central location in Bruges

Posted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: Style, location
Cons: Internet connection is not in an acceptable condition
Location: Bruges is a nice small town with its historical centre amazingly well-preserved. Buildings have a character and it is enjoyable to stroll through town
We had a single-day trip to Bruges starting out from Brussels. The Hotel Peellaert is on one of the main roads in central Bruges and has a good ambiance with high ceilings and stylish furniture. The breakfast was below par for such a hotel (although it was included in the room rate). Most disappointing as the Internet, since it was virtually impossible to use it. When we rang and complained about it the reception just suggested that we could move in the room to find the best place or we could go to the lobby (this was close to midnight)

Extremely friendly staff, fantastic location, lovely breakfast. The only negative is that the hotel and room were way too hot. Would recommend and gladly stay again.

Een aanrader.

Posted Oct 19, 2014
