Well-located, friendly hotelPosted Dec 25, 2014
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Portinari. It is located close to the central squares as well as the station. The room was very clean; the bed was a little hard but overall it was comfortable. We went to the bar one evening where the hot chocolate is enormous and is accompanied by an éclair!

A pleasant hotel with good facilitiesPosted Dec 16, 2014
Pros: Elegant, clean, good food and friendly staff, it was also lovely and christmassy.
Cons: Hotter water in the showers
Location: I would highly recommend Joey's cafe, which is about a 5 minute walk away, it was by far the best bar we visited in Bruges (and we visited quite a few
We had a nice room, which was very clean and comfortable, with a lovely little patio with a table and chairs, which was a bonus. The staff were mostly really helpful, especially the lady who greeted us on Friday evening when we arrived, but unfortunately we didn't get her name. There were only two minor things which let the hotel down slightly, one was the tepid water in the shower, and the other was on the 2nd day of our stay when we weren't having breakfast at the hotel, I popped into the breakfast room to get a glass of water, and the waitress asked me to put it back, as if I wasn't having breakfast I wasn't entitled to a glass of water! Fortunately there was another member of staff there who told me to go ahead and have some water, but I was a bit annoyed by the waitress's attitude. Otherwise we had a great stay and I can say that the breakfast we had on the first day was lovely, with loads of choice.

Lovely hotelPosted Nov 23, 2014
Booked this hotel for one night to visit the Christmas markets with a 2 year old in tow. Couldn't have asked for a better room and really comfortable beds. Location worked really well for the main car park and walking into the market square. Breakfast was pretty good too. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and stay there again if we go back to Bruges.

Dirty roomPosted Sep 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
If you are looking for a cheap room that is close to the town center...this is a short walk. However...the room was very dirty. Not only was the "decorative" comforter stained...but there was also hair on the bed, pillows and towels. Also...we had to open the windows until our noses adjusted to the smell of dirty feet that filled the room. My running shoes smell better than our room did. I am usually comfortable in any type of room, old or new, as long as it's clean. If this doesn't bother you...then the hotel is in a decent location and a good deal compared to some of the other prices we saw. It is next to a strip of livelier bars that attracts a younger crowd...but we did not hear the music from our room, so it wasn't an issue. We will just pay the extra money next time for a hotel that takes a little more pride in their space.

Nice hotel Good positionPosted Sep 18, 2014
Pros: Beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished. Wonderful breakfast . Friendly and efficient staff. everywhere spotless. Free safety deposit boxes
Cons: Maybe tea and coffee making facilities could be provided in rooms.
Location: situated on the edge of the historic town centre there is something for everyone. Canal boat rides horse and carriages museums galore churches etc.
Booked this hotel for a four night stay commencing 8th Sept. and so glad we did. This is a charming hotel situated on the t'zand square adjacent to a variety of other hotels and restaurants etc. It is opposite one of the lifts that service the huge underground car park under the square. We received a warm welcome from the reception staff. Our standard room was on the 5th floor with a rear view over the rooftops of the spires and towers. The room was a very good size and well furnished so it made for a very comfortable stay. Although the hotel was busy there was no noise from either inside or outside the hotel so a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed was no problem. Would certainly stay her again.

a great place to stayPosted Sep 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
the location was convenient to the station and an easy walk to the heart of the city. A taxi was very reasonable. The staff were all charming and helpful and knowledgeable. The room was clean and fully functioning and secure. The breakfast was very generous and varied. A truly wonderful place to stay and will be my first consideration on my next trip to Bruges.
