“Lavish”

If you stay in Brunei, you must stay at this hotel. Faily close to downtown, but not downtown, the hotel has all the luxury you would expect from a palace and more (movie theatres, beaches and pools, etc).

“Perfect Hotel to say in relaxation”

The Empire Hotel has everything you expect for resort hotels - gorgeous buildings, spacious rooms with nice views, nice restaurants, beachs, pools, golf courses, spa and even a theatre! One of the greatest hotel in the world!

“A "must" stay hotel when in Brunei”

We had an early flight into Bandar Seri Begawan and the Empire Hotel checked us in and gave us a key to our room without a fuss. The room was gorgeous and so was the hotel. Loved the food. Wish we had stayed there longer. You need to stay at least 2 days to enjoy all the amenities. Loved the car service. The cost for the town car service was the same cost as a taxi. Staff was cheerful and kind.

“An incredible place”

The Hotel is the best I have every stayed in. I have travelled the world for 35 years to find a place like that. Pity the bar only serves soft drinks though.

“A Wonderful Hotel”

The Empire Hotel and Country Club is a wonderful property. A friend and I spent our last Eid holiday there and were pleasantly surprised. Our room was extremely comfortable and had a wonderful view. We didn't stay in the main building but we had a beautiful swimming pool right outside our building. The hotel is very large and golf carts come around to transport guests around. Stock up on snacks and drinks before you get to the hotel as the food was expensive and not very good. The best thing about the room was the full jacuzzi in the bathroom and the movie theatre right on the hotel grounds.

“Wonderful !”

Almost everything was wonderful. Cleanliness, staff, comfort, food are impecable. Service, any service, is a little slow, but not that much. Even so, the waiting areas are places that make your waiting time a pleasure. It's a wonderful place to travel with kids. My two year old loved the place and the staff made her feel like a little princess. There are also several pools, toys and places a child can play safely. The "kids club"is one of the best I've seen in my whole life andthe staff there seems to enjoy working there. If for the princess it was good, for the "king & queen" it was a perfect place to relax and indulge.

“Wonderful stop over hotel.”

Spent a week at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive and our bedroom and bathroom were very luxurious. There was quite a bit of maintenance going on and the lagoon was a muddy sandbank, which was a pity. It would have been nice to have been informed at the time of booking that this was happening. The hotel, which is very big, was extremely quiet and meant on a few evenings we were the only couple eating in the restaurant, of which there are 5 but on the plus side there were times when we had the pool all to ourselves...heaven! On the whole, I didn't feel the restaurants offered good value for money. The best we found was the Chinese, which served a delicious choice of dishes but the most dissapointing was the Italian restaurant, which was promoted as serving authentic Italian dishes but in fact all it offered were very poor pizzas....and no pasta dishes at all! There are all you can eat buffets available at some of the restaurants on certain days, which offer better value but I'm not a fan! The golf course is pretty impressive and worth the money if you're a keen golfer. The course is well maintained...but take a good supply of balls! Quick tip. If you are over 50 and happen to be there on a Monday and I think it applies to Tuesday as well, the green fees are reduced, which was a good thing! Overall we had a wonderful time here and if you can turn a blind eye to a few niggles I'm sure you will too!

“Not too bad...but”

The Empire has excellent grounds, amenities and an excellent location on the beach front. However the service lets this place down. At one time there was one person on reception dealing with a couple. People, who just wanted a quick question answered, were queueing up behind and eventually leaving the queue as there was just no-one there. Another elderly couple were sat at the activities desk for around 5 mins with no staff arriving to book their trips. Eventually one of them joined the line in the reception queue (now two staff managing it) just to get someone to book them a trip. It was the little things like the promptness of attention, information that bugged an otherwise great stay. (We had to phone up every night we got back to have the minibar restocked - why couldn't it be checked and stocked daily? without my call?) I have to say my wife and I enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel itself. Friendly people, good clean hotel with plenty of areas to relax, a cinema to chill in and a country club with extra amenities. If you are laid back and don't care about the speed of service, then forget my ramblings and enjoy the Empire.

“High Expectations”

We went to the empire expecting a lot, as it was a 6 star hotel, formerly a 7 star. The room and facilities were all that we had expected, the service was a bit less than we expected.
