“Southport”

The Wingate at Southport is an excellent choice. The Staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very comfortable. I would definately stay again.

“Very nice, reasonable price”

The desk attendants were very attentive and provided good information regarding nearby restaurants and taxis. We did not have children with us, but the pool was quite small. There is a pub nearby which will be good for some, but it was very loud. I'm glad our room was not on that side of the hotel or I'm afraid the background noise of the air-conditioning would not have covered it up. Room was very nice and spacious. More than we had expected for a last minute reservation.

“Southport Comfort”

Stay at Southport's Wingate for easy access to Southport and Oak Island attractions. It's close to restaurants and a pub next door. Very easy to find as you come in from Wilmington, just behind the drugstore at the intersection of two major highways, but far enough from the road to give a feeling of quiet and privacy. Staff is friendly and solicitous.

“More than adequate - friendly, clean and comfortable”

We were just there for one night; a quick stop before hopping the ferry over to BHI. Hotel looks relatively new, was clean and comfortable and the staff at the desk was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple but ample, tasty and convenient. We will definitely be back!

“Brand New Hotel, very nice BUT thin walls!”

Be careful what you do in your room, because your neighbor will hear you! They needed to put more insulation between the walls... We went to hang out on the beach - the hotel and staff are very nice and the kids loved the breakfast.

“Brand New but Computer Problems”

This is a brand new hotel. The people were very friendly. Only complaint was that at BOTH check-in and check-out they could not get computer to process our stay. No big deal on check-out because I just told them I had to leave and hadn't purchased any incidentals. On check in, they couldn't program our card key, they clerk had to use a maid's key to let us in and then bring our cards up later.

“Southport, NC”

The only problem we had was that our room was not serviced the first night we we're there. The room was overlooked by the maid service. When we notified the front desk, they we're very apologetic, and asked if we needed any towels or anything else. They assured us that the room would be serviced for the remaining days of our stay, which it was.

Room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was excellent.

“A fine property unless you need something, management is non-existent, and unavailable.”

A bogus charge of 250 placed on my credit card for smoking, I do not smoke. I am not upset at the charge, mistakes happen, Im upset at the attitude of the hotel. Nasty night audit told me I was not entitled to see any evidence nor could I speak with management. Was also told that if the charge was to remain, someone would call me in a few days. The charge remained and the hotel refused my attempts at contact. Also, jacuzzi does and has not worked for a year. According to the maintenence, "it has not worked for a year and probably wont for the next year, the owners are to cheap to fix anything." All I can say, is that a man that travels for a living, I have never in 35 years been exposed to this kind of attitude from employees or management. Choose this hotel at your peril.
