Only issue with our whole stay is they were a little chinsy with towels and washcloths. Other than that, very enjoyable stay.

Our stay here was great. I was in town for the Run Oak Island 10k. Brought my Mom with me to enjoy the area. Hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The entire hotel and our room was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. We will definitely stay here again.

No frills which was fine because it was just a 2 day visit but the beds seriously need replacing. We both rolled to the middle like it was a hammock. Very uncomfortable.

The building needs some TLC but the staff are helpful and the price can't be beat. The room was clean and quiet. We have stayed here before and would definitely stay here again!

The breakfasts were terrible. Not enough hot foods. Make your own waffle....wow. THat station stayed messy. Orange juice was not tasty. Coffee was good. Pillows were uncomfortable but staff came up with some alternatives for me'

The comforter on the bed was ripped from one side that you could see it from when you came in. The sheets were all dirt, every layer of sheets were dirty. When I went to the front desk to ask for a new room, there was no one at the front desk and I had to wait for 10 minutes before someone showed up. I got a new room, but the new room was just as dirty. The sheets were all stained and dirty like someone ate in the bed and the sheets weren’t change just remade the bed. It’s been a week and I still have not gotten a refund. I made a reservation for two nights and I did not stay even the first night. I’ve tried calling to get a refund and no one answers.

Quiet space but poor service
My wife and I had just got married and when we checked in (9pm) the woman behind the counter was strange. At first she was rude talking about a car accident she was in and treating us like an inconvience to her. After a few moments she seemed to warm up a little to us, but was still seeming inconvenienced. Also, when i walked out of my room at 9am i was immediately approached and asked if i was checking out making me feel like i was being rushed out of the room when we had 2 hours until check out. We did enjoy the quietness of the hotel and the room was clean.

I See why this hotel was inexpensive
I had an event on Oak Island and was looking for a cheaper place to stay. I was not expecting cheaper would mean I'd have two stink bugs, a roach and someone else hair all over my shower. This hotel is apparently geared towards the construction workers who stay there, which is fine but the free breakfast should be more than frozen (literally, it was frozen) eggs, sausage and biscuits. I guess the thought was to take it to go. There was also make your own waffles. For a Wyndham hotel, I was very disappointed.

I've Stayed at Better Wingates
The entire fourth (top) floor of this hotel was humid and musty. The desk said that they'd just installed a new A/C system, but it doesn't seem to be helping. The humidity was lower by morning, but that may have been thanks to a cold front moving in overnight. The phone didn't work (completely dead). The enamel on the bottom of the tub was worn off. The breakfast was rather anemic, though they did have a waffle iron. Altogether, this stay left quite a bit to be desired. I've stayed at much better Wingates.

Never again.
The room smelled terrible. Seemed to be coming from the linens. The floor felt almost 'sticky'. Old TV had crappy picture. The parking lot was dark, the breakfast had a line to the one waffle maker, offered one flavor of fat-free yogurt.

The property was average. What was discouraging is that we accidentally booked the wrong date and there was no recourse to change a date. We had to pay for the correct night and the incorrectly booked night as well—we are terribly disappointed.

The phone did not work and when told they said they couldn't do anything about it at thst time. Never worked while we were there. The shower curtain was torn. The frame of the bathroom door was dirty and there was mold within a picture on the wall.

Each year this place goes downhill further. From ice machines that are intentionally turned off to the outdoors hot tub that hasn’t been fixed since prior to covid to the piles of old equipment in the stairwell to the stains everywhere to the stuff we found in the floor that housekeepers should have picked up to the partially working ac units Every item has been an issues for years that the management just ignores There are alternatives in the area now and I will be paying a few extra dollars from now on to stay elsewhere

I found this hotel to be just average. Nothing outstanding, especially when you consider we paid over 200.00 a night, there should have been a better breakfast. Two problems I will mention is that the air conditioner was not functioning properly, too hot in room and I had to kill two (2) baby roaches in the bathroom. Now the roaches could have been shipped there by a previous guest or they could have traveled from another room. The fact remains, they were there.

1) The breakfast was not something to advertise as an amenity. The self made waffles was the only thing that was hot. The rest was all pre packaged food that needed to be microwaved. 2) There was this annoying beeping sound in the lobby. I personally don't know how the staff put up with it. When I asked what the sound was I was told it was the fire alarm and it had been going on for two weeks. Obviously management doesn't care about this place of the staff.

Weekend beach fishing trip
Great room for the price. Staff was supper friendly! Room was very comfortable and quiet. We prefer more small, local hotels instead of chains, but this was alot cheaper than the locals so we went againt our norms and weren't disappointed for just a weekend trip!

The tubs needed to be replaced and the toilet had something in it when we entered the room it was not the best.

No hand towels or soap, had to make number of trips to front desk for basics. Breakfast items were meager, waffle or microwave. Expected more from what seemed like a nice, upscale place

Swimming pool was not the cleanest, the hallway on third floor was hot and smelly, breakfast items was not refilled when things ran out, staff was nice but did not look very professional and had to go look for them when needing something.

Lady at the front desk was very welcoming. This is our second time here and she’s been here both time greeting us with a warm welcome. Will definitely be back again and again. Convenient to most needed shops, pharmacies and gas stations. Love it!
