‹(•¿•)› Average Hotel for an average person ‹(•¿•)

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: Police officers checking a suspicious package left over at hotel, & been told to do our business... ‹(•¿•)› Thank God, we are still alive
Cons: Be honest about the facilities at hotel, I booked a double bed room & been given 2 single beds ......
Location: watch your pocket when you go out in this area, quite a few attraction at a distance from hotel, we were lucky there was a summer festival going on
Booked double bed room while seeing its attractive pictures on Expedia, completely disappointed on arrival to hotel as the reception staff was totally annoying, most confusing was asking for free wifi , they had about 3 types of wifi & till last day of our stay we had to figure out which wifi to use & how to connect to it ... anyways to start with check in, it is quite a distance from Brussel central Train station & very far from midi station, won't recommend to walk to hotel with 2 bags & baby stroller as the roads are very confusing. easy to spot the hotel by a flag hanging on side, entrance is quite attractive with a nice bar area with extremely rude staff ........ No tea making facility at room, disappointing reception staff when asked for kettle or hot water to make baby milk, been asked to check with bar area , which was open lighted nicely cleaned 'without any staff' had to wait for 15-20 min for someone to show up , when asked for hot water been replied rudely that check hotel facilities before booking hotel , & that he is not responsible for supplying hot water to guest who are residing there. Very rude man , my wife got into tears when she brought a cup of hot water for making baby milk, I found the porter in the main lobby more helpful. photocopy of the map surrounding area of the hotel provided & thats it , when asked how to reach grand palace been told just walk you will reach there.?? Kindly check the linguistic skills & manners of your staff

Central Location

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: The Breakfast was included. Free Wi-Fi.
Cons: The mini safe in my room was a bit moody
Location: The City Centre sights/Cafes/Bars/shops etc are in easy walking distance with Gare Midi two stops and c15 mins away on the Metro.
Very close to centre of town -the Grand Place is less than 10 minutes walk away (the Mannikin Pis still less).

Pros: Love Brussels and its choice of museums, galleries, bars, chocolate and restaurants.
Location: Lots of restaurants and bars with so many choices of lovely Belgian beers. Few mins walk to Grand Place.
Good central position. Easy to walk to the many restaurants and bars in thr area. If you need to go further Metro only few mins away. We may return to this hotel again.

Fantastic location, however.....

Pros: Location
Cons: House of front staff
I took my nine year old niece on her first trip to Brussels, arriving at the hotel the lobby is impressive, however the front desk staff decided to completely ignore myself and my niece for a least three minutes taking no acknowledgment to us, when we did check in, staff did not inform which level breakfast is on and time, time of check out and the very fact there is a tax charge. (Only to my discovery checking out) I found the room spacious however the furniture is out dated. The cleaning staff and breakfast room staff lovely, a shame about reception staff, who came across rude.

Hotel close to the Grand Place

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Staff, handiness for night life/Brussels centre without too expensive. overall OK!
Cons: Check room for smoking - seems endemic in Brussels.
Location: Hotel about 400m from the Grand Place and very close to the famous statue "Mannekin Pis" and the surrounding bars and night life.
Good value hotel, pleasant staff and facilities, breakfast good. Asked for non-smoking rooms but required ours and our sons room cleaned/sprayed - they did this quickly and efficiently, but a bit disappointing (it was supposedly non-smoking) they hadn't been done before arrival. However, would stay again.

Good basic hotel in a central location

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Room spacious and clean and in a very central location close to Grand Place for a very good price. We booked a triple room and were given a double bed and a sofa bed which was adequately comfortable. Room had a small fridge (empty mini bar fridge), but no tea/coffee making facilities. Hotel does not provide an iron on request unlike most other hotels I've stayed in. Hairdryer is one of those contraptions from the 1960s that have no place in hotels in the 21st century. Staff were pleasant, free breakfast very good. Wifi worked fine. Lack of facilities in room was the only let down in this hotel, so if you don't need a kettle, an iron or a hairdryer that works better than sticking your head out the window on a breezy day this is the hotel for you.

Hotel

Hotel is in a good location-15min walk from Midi rail station. Room was comfortable although room was not ready to check in until 3pm. The so called "fitness suite" is a joke..7 pieces of equipment...4 pieces broken.1 basic exercise bike. Hotel is very large and the staff seemed uninterested with helping.

Affordable luxury

Posted Aug 16, 2014
The hotel was in a great location, it was clean and had a grand look. staff were competent but lacked friendliness or personability however with a big hotel this isn't too shocking. Unfortunately when we checked in we found our tv wasn't working - this took a couple of hours to fix which was very annoying and is something they should check before giving someone a room. Breakfast was nice and wifi can also be accessed from your room.

Well placed for tourists.

Pros: Locaton, cleanliness, helpful staff, price.
Cons: WiFi, hot food.
We arrived on Eurostar & the very nice taxi driver advised us that the hotel walkable from Midi station, as we found to be true on departing. One road and a 15 minute walk, tops. We stayed here 12 years ago, and not lot has changed. It is a decent enough hotel. They store your baggage when required. Maps, brochures etc. are readily available. Plenty of lifts and keycard room entry. Our room was large with twin beds pushed together. Cleaned well every day, and some English TV channels. Air conditioning worked fine and was adequate. The bathroom was large enough and the under floor heating a pleasant touch. Only 2 down sides to report. Firstly, the breakfast wasn't brilliant. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty to eat but less hot food than I'd normally expect. The other negative was the (free) WiFi. It was temperamental and a tad slow. I had an iPhone and an Android tablet. Both suffered with lost signal, password re-entry & bandwidth. But there were plenty of bars & restaurants offering WiFi, so no worries. Grand Place, Mannekin Pis and Central Station are all minutes walk away. And the hotel bar is fine for a nightcap. I'd stay here again, no question. It's not 5*, but for a short city break - ideal.
