“Too much for sub par; location saves it”
Pros: - Location. Right outside Brussels Centrall station, and a few blocks from Grand Place. Cons: - Hot water flashes between hot and cold. - Shower leaked into the floor. Tried damming up the shower doors to mitigate what leaked on to the bathroom floor. - Air conditioner didn't work. Room was stuffy the whole stay and I couldn't open the windows. - It was a non-smoking room, but had a hint of smell as though it had been a smoking room years ago. - WiFi isn't free. This is just a basic ammenity for an upscale hotel charging their level of nightly rate. Overall, too much money to get 2-star comfort. I'll stay at my usual hotel next time.
“Fall in Brussels”
Good locations but the hotel staff was "sruffy". Also, I had to ask the front desk to have my room cleaned and more towels on 2 occasions. Rooms were small and outdated.
“Best in Class”
My Mom and I stayed two nights in Brussels, one at the Novotel around the corner and one at Le Meridien. The Novotel may be a bit more "hip" and appeal to younger guests, but for about the same money you can stay in a truly best in class "traditional" hotel with an unbelievable location across the plaza from the train station. (If you're coming into Brussels by train via the airport or anywhere else for that matter, you can't get any closer to Central Station than this.) The staff were friendly and accommodating and the room was spacious and clean. Would definintely stay here again!
“Great hotel, but....”
This is an excellant hotel, everything about it is great except they have what you call a "green card" that you can hang out your door that says to save energy they will not come into your room to give you clean sheets or towels. Great concept and I always reuse towels more than once and I don't need my bed made everyday. But they also don't come in to empty garbage, replace drinking glasses, or replenish coffee/sugar/cream. You do receive a credit that you can use in their resturants for using this card each day. But I don't like having garbage pile up and would like to have coffee in the morning. The maids should still stop in each room to take care of these issues. Other than that it is a wonderderful hotel.
“Watch That Fire Escape !”
This hotel is right across from the main train station, which is excellent if traveling by rail and with a few minutes walk from the central shopping area. Plenty of restaurants in the area. Being rated as a 5 star hotel, our room was much smaller than we anticipated. The furniture was not bad, but too much for the room. The bathroom was a standard size, although not generous. The bath tub was plastic and had some wear at the bottom. Why on earth would a 5 star hotel have such a cheesy tub is beyond me. The bathroom floor had something that looked like spillage near the toilet. I took a wet paper towel to wipe it up, but found it was etched into the stone tile; very bad looking. The bathroom sink drain was faulty, so for our stay we had water that drained very slowly. The air conditioner worked and was pleasant. Watch the fire escapes! One day, the elevators were taking too long, so I decided to walk down the stairs. I walked to the end of the hall where I found a stairway. I proceeded to walk down to the street level only to find an emergency exit door. I walked back up the stairs and found that all of the doors were locked and I could not get back into the hallway. I knocked on the door at many different floors and was finally let in by one of the hotel staff. She said that in the 15 years of her working there, no one has ever mistaken the emergency exit for a common stairway. I asked her where the regular stairway was, to which she said there isn't any...wow.
“Crappy air conditioner”
We were somewhat uncomfortable during our trip because our a crappy AC and inadequate ventilation from the bathroom that left the room too humid and hot.
“Truffles and Mussels in Brussels”
Fantastic! Not only was Brussels a very pleasant surprise, but the food was fantastic, the chocolates angelic, the lightshow in the square mesmerizing and best of all, Le Meridien. Perfect location to the train, restaurants, beer taps and city energy galore.... Never thought I would say, "can't wait to get back to Brussels", mainly because of Le Meridien.
“Great location in Brussels”
Our stay was great. The staff checked us in early and the concierge held our bags prior to our train departure. Brussels Central train station is right across the street and only 20 minutes from the airport. We were close to all of the main sights and found some fantastic bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.
“Glad we stayed there”
The location is terrific, the weekend room rate was a real deal and their wired internet connection was excellent compared to the WiFi service in our hotel in Amsterdam. If you travel by train to Brussels it is hard to top the Meredien's location so close to the central Train station and Grand Place.
“Loved the location”
Loved the location of the hotel. My son and I took the train from the airport and we were very pleasantly surprised to see the hotel right outside the train station. It was also very convenient to the local sights and multiple cafes and restaurants. The only downside was the lack of free wifi. Overall it was a good experience and we would stay there again.
