Well recommend this historic hotel to anyone
“Very convenient location, some of concier services could be better”
Location is close to Grand Palace, and shopping center with subway and bus stations close by.
“A week in Brussels at the Metropole”
The hotel is within walking distance of the Grand Place and many other tourist venues. The lobby is amazing. The style and painting are excelent. Brunch was included with our expedia rate. Altough the food was different than I am used to at home, it was good and there was a wide selection. The service at the brunch was excelent with my coffee cup being filled regularly. The hotel does not have a business center where I could check in online for my flight home. To offset this the staff allowed me to use one of their computers and printer to print the boarding passes. The included wifi worked well for my smart phone and laptop. Our room was very clean and well laid out. The furnishings were older and the room could use a decorating update. The decorations did not look anything like the pictures on their web site. We can only assume we got a room that had not been redecorated in 20 or 30 years. The only maintenance complaint was the drains on the sinks did not work properly. Overall we had a good stay.
“Great place to have a drink, but overpriced and check room before accepting it.”
I only stayed at the Metropole for one night, so perhaps that's why they put me in a room on the first floor facing a brick wall (#1018). Okay, I guess someone has to stay in that room, and it was only one night. But as dinner time neared, a definite cooking smell wafted into my room. Then at the crack of dawn, people started dragging noisy carts up and down the alley below, making it impossible to sleep. I would have communicated this to the hotel if they had asked, but they didn't. Gorgeous and grand public rooms, but an overall stuffy, corporate vibe. Definitely overpriced for what I received.
“Lovely Hotel”
The hotel is very nice. The location within 10 minutes of the Grand Place is excellent. The only warning is regarding the Metropole Cafe. It is located in the front of the hotel and has outside seating. The food is below average. The waiter stated that the cafe rents space from the hotel and is not a part of Metropole. It shows
“Good hotel”
Nice hotel, location was good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only complaint was the shower was uncomfortable and obviously added to the tub afterwards - had to really arch your back or bend over to get under the shower head. Looby is cool, breakfast was nice. Overall good expierence.

“The good and bad”
The hotel lobby is quite nice and the location is excellent. The service was extremely variable. Here were my specific issues. 1) Ordered King bed with my reservation and placed in non-King room but not told that. When i inquired they said they did not have anymore rooms. 2) Three of lights were burned out making myself and crew originally believe there was an electrical problem and it took them 30 or 40 minutes to figure out and bring replacement bulbs. 3) No shampoo l or do not disturb sign was left in the room-- I had to ask the next day. The cleaning crew did not knock they just entered the room and assumed I was not there. I was standing close to the door at the time so it was not due to lack of hearing a knock. It happened twice. 4) Concierge service was variable. One told me to come in the morning and I could get my train ticket booked by them. The next morning the concierge (female) did not want to be bothered and told me it would cost more but not sure how much and i should just go to train station. So i went-- selected train had just sold out and found out did not cost more to book via hotel. 5) The walls are thin and could easily hear my neighbors television at night. The internet service was free and sometimes slow but compared to other European hotels, the service was pretty good. The ambiance and location were great! I would be on the fence about recommending the hotel. I might have just had some bad luck with the room.
“Perfect choice hotel”
The Metropole is a lovely old hotel maintained beautifully. The location is super and very close to the Grand Place and many, many restaurants. Our breakfast was included, which is a big plus and the breakfast room is very nice and the food selection and quality was really good. The room was small but very comfortable and spotless. The Concierge steered us to 3 excellent restaurants. The all marble bathroom was great. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Brussels.
“In the center of everything”
The Metropole is old world elegant. Though a tad thread bare, it was a large room with beer/water/cokes provided every day. The location is fantastic and the service was very welcoming.
