A truly wonderful place to stay!

Posted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: Service! Good size room. Just about everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: 10 minutes walk to the Grand Place (5 if you're feeling fit. 20 minutes to Brussels Noord railway station. You are truly in the heart of Brussels.
Built in 1895 the Metropole is as imposing place with real grandeur. It looks far more expensive than it is (at least through Expedia) and has the best staff of any hotel I have ever stayed at. Bow tied waiters serve coffee at breakfast, your room is serviced by maids in black dresses and white pinafores. Every single staff member is friendly and helpful and seem to genuinely want you to have the best stay ever. All food, all services, everything about this hotel is top notch. Recommended to anyone staying in central Brussels.

Lovely hotel but the room was small and tired

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Wallpaper coming of the walls etc and nothing like the pics of the luxury rooms you are enticed with, maids doing up much nicer rooms around us made us feel a little like we had been shoved in a side room that wasn't finished. Bed was incredibly comfy though and sheets clean, I slept very well and all in all we hadn't come to brussels to sit in the hotel room. Staff friendly especially the concierge who was incredibly accomodating.

A centrally located grand hotel

Posted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: The very good service, its most central location and the old world charm of the beautiful building.
Cons: The lift would have benefitted from an attendant. Also, a concierge at the door at all times.
Location: The hotel is a stone's throw away from Saint Catherine's Fish Market, the Grand Square and all attendant attractions.
The oldest hotel in Brussels, the Metropole is very charming indeed. The open lift is an excellent feature as is the glorious ceiling in the bar. The staff are a delight.

Vintage Glamour

Pros: Style, location and staff!
Location: Very central and close to everything.
We booked this hotel for an overnight stop on the way back to UK from an Andre Rieu concert in Maastricht not having been to Brussels before. Choice was made by location and the photo images showing the long history and interesting architectural interior etc. We were not disappointed by either and being able to have our car parked for us immediately outside the hotel for a small ‘tip’ was a bonus. The concierge did a great job and this enhances the hotel’s status. Location is great for shopping and the old part of Brussels with all the bars, cafes and historical areas and we spent a good 2 hours out of the rain taking lunch in an old tavern in the square of Grand-Place. Our very reasonably priced room (including breakfast) was a huge superior at the front of the hotel with a large en-suite with bath and shower. On the ground floor is a bistro and bar with a good reasonably priced menu where we spent the evening eating and drinking with a friendly and efficient service. Breakfast is taken on the first floor in the very large dining/breakfast room with a comprehensive selection of hot and cold food. Reception were extremely proficient and pleasant and complementing the concierge – thank you to all the staff. We shall aim to return for a longer stay. Access in and out of Brussels to the hotel proved easy onto the main arterial motoerway for north/south travel.

Pros: The staff was so friendly and so professional. I loved the charm of my room.
Location: The hotel is located near many restaurants, shops and currency exchange.
I wanted a traditional hotel and Hotel Metropole was just that! The hotel is centrally located in Brussels and is in great shape for its age.

Metropole Hotel, Brussels

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Everything worked: showers, TV etc. Rooms were large, clean with complimentary beer & water renewed each day. Great breakfast. We would book again.
Location: Great location, just off the centre & quiet. 5 minutes walk to all Brussels has to offer.
Very near Grand Place at centre of Brussels. Victorian (c1895) and full of character, but modern facilities. Staff very attentive, friendly and efficient.

Excellent - would definitely go back.

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Large, clean room with complimentary drinks in mini bar. Breakfast was excellent - hot buffet, breads, waffles, cheeses, ham, cereals etc..
Cons: Signs of wear and tear but I guess that is to be expected for such an old building. Would like tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Location: Excellent location, short walk to shops and Grand Place. Also short walk to start of hop-on hop-off bus tour.
The hotel is very grand when you first enter. Clean, friendly staff. Very comfy beds. Good location for venturing around the centre of Brussels. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel. We got a really good deal on Expedia, I do not know how the standard prices compare. Give it a go :)

Grand Old Hotel

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: Location is convenient, the rooms are large.
Cons: If renovated, it could become a real 5-star hotel.
Location: The hotel is near the Grand Place, the heart of the old town - it's a 10 min easy walk.
Metropole Hotel is grand old hotel located near the hear of the old town. The rooms are large (especially for Europe), but the hotel definitely has a dated vibe. The rugs and flooring are old (but clean). The staff was helpful. All in all, it's a good hotel - just not a 5-star hotel.
