Quiet room, nice locationPosted Jan 18, 2014
Pros: Quiet and confortable rooms, many options for lunch and dinner.
Hotel is located by EU Commission, many cafes and restaurants around. Surprisingly quiet location, but far from historic center of Brussels which is accessible by metro not far from hotel.

Pros: Free wifi - for me that is a must nowadays. Location is fantastic for Schumann / EU.
Cons: For me pillows and mattress were both a little soft. Mattresses difficult to address but a choice of pillows would have helped me.
Location: Easy access to Schumann metro & bus network, EU Parliament easy walk. Lots of (Irish) Bars, Brasseries, Pizzerias and other restaurants close.
For the price the Hotel Charlemagne was pretty good value for money & it's location was excellent for my purposes (especially with airport bus links, buses and the metro all within a 5 minute walk). On the upside the staff were polite & attentive, there was free wifi, the room was clean (spotless), the coffee machine good and the water plenty hot enough. Slight negatives were the pillows & mattress were slightly soft for me, cleaners were too thorough (through away the shampoo, shower gel, soap that on day one that I'd have used day two - but that hit's their profits) & the shower head slipped (but I didn't report it so they may have been able to fix it quickly). All in all above average for the price.

Good HotelPosted Dec 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Good Hotel which I have used many times. I found the shower system incomprehensible but reception are used to getting enquiries on this. Expensive coffee facilities in the room and I always get breakfast next door at the Silken Hotel cafe

Close Proximity to my conferencePosted Nov 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
The staff are very friendly and helpful. There was one staff member that seems to be there all the time, but she was the best! The hotel is nice as well as the room itself. However, I didn't like the shower/bath tub. The poles to hold up the curtains are very flimsy because the tubing is made up of PVC pipes that are not glued together (or perhaps once were but are now lose). So they kept falling when I placed my towel over it to dry. Secondly, the water stopper in the tub had to be manually removed and it was very difficult to remove it, so we used the spoon for the coffee as a tool : ) . But other than that the stay was nice. Breakfast is provided at the hotel for an extra 14 euros, but the breakfast store down the street EXKI provides a much cheaper and fuller breakfast. The hotel is a bit far from the center of Brussels, approximately 30 minutes of walking distance. But if you purchase a day pass to use the metro (6.5 Euros) then it is not a huge concern since you'll be there in no time. I hope this helps to someone

Good hotel in European quarterPosted Nov 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Good to have nespresso machine in room (although €2.50 for an espresso is pricey, I was happy to pay it).

Excellent value at weekendsPosted Oct 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a nice enough hotel which we got for an excellent price at the weekend. Good location close to the metro, with a few interesting little bars and restaurants and near some nice neighbourhoods. Some of the decor is a little tired, a few features need replacing (e.g. our shower riser was broken), it was hard to regulate the temperature in the rooms, and staff were not always that welcoming. Wifi was free but very slow and sometimes temperamental.
