Fine for a short stay

Posted Sep 12, 2014
If you are looking for somewhere just to spend a night or two then this hotel is fine. It is close walking distance to Rogier Metro Stop and also old town Brussels (Grand Place). The main reception area was modern and clean, however the corridors and lift are very dated, and old. Our room was a perfect size considering we were only spending the nights there, however it felt like they had tried to update the room and failed (it featured Vivienne Westwood wallpaper). The bathroom was small and compact but very clean. The room was very loud at night due to it being next to the lift- which was ancient. Overall it was fine for what we needed but wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking to use their room a lot or staying for more than a couple of nights.

Small and tired

Posted Sep 4, 2014
The room we had was quite small and tired. It was clean and looked like it had been well cared for over its life, just that everything seemed to be near the end of its useful life. The mattress, pillows, and towels were all on their last legs and more what you would find at a good hostel rather than a place wanting to be a three star hotel. We had a room next to the elevator (almost an antique) and that was very noisy running up and down - didnt bother us too much, but it would if you were a light sleeper. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was basic but acceptable. Location is ok - on the edge of town, 5 min to a metro station and a 10-15 min brisk walk to the Grand Place along the main shopping strip. We booked it through the Expedia 'secret saver' option and consider that it was probably a fair price for what we got that way, but not the great deal we were expecting and would have been expensive if booked at the advertised Expedia rate. Expedia advertised it as being of a similar standard to a Holiday Inn or Double Tree and this was certainly well below that level. Overall, the hotel was OK (I have certainly stayed in a lot worse), but not quite at the level we were expecting. If I was returning to Brussels again I would probably try my luck somewhere else.

Backpacking around Europe

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Clean and reasonably modern.
Cons: Free wifi
Location: Good location, walking distance from town centre. Need to get metro to main train stations.
My friend and I were travelling around Europe and hence wanted somewhere reasonably priced to stay. We only stayed two nights before catching the Eurostar home. The room was smaller than expected, with no free wifi (which was a touch annoying), however they did have a safe for you to put valuables in, which is a plus point. However when checking out on the final day the woman on the reception was very slow at helping get our things back. One more thing to note is that the lift is very old and dated (a bit scary).

ciocco-vacanza

Very friendly and helpful staff, clean small room and decent bathroom. No a/c of course so a bit warm while we were there (July) and with window open street traffic was very loud (but some rooms do not face street). Nice breakfast.
