“Attractive comfortable hotel.”
The Stanhope was charming clean well located hotel
“Great business-oriented hotel”
This hotel is close to EU buildings and a bit far from tourist sites. But it's quite elegant, and the service was top-notch.
“satisfactory”
small but nice, quite and convenient, helpful and god staff, very close to metro station, breakfast is mediocre but service is fast and clean. fair price for a 5 star hotel.
“Delightful”
I found the Stanhope hotel to be a delightful oasis in a busy, beautiful and interesting city. My rooms were well appointed, comfortable and cozy. (I stayed in two different rooms, one on my way to Spain, and another on my return trip to the States). The service was excellent and friendly. I look forward to the opportunity to stay there again. Highly recommended.
“Beautiful hotel with lots of character, but not great location”
This hotel is truly beautiful, and filled with historic charm. My room was dual level, with hard wood floors, and high ceilings and lots of comfort. The lobby is so spacious and open with many places to sit down and relax. The only issue is that the hotel is not near to any restaurants and so you have to take the metro or walk quite a distance just to eat in the evenings. This is not so convenient if you are exhausted and jet lagged. The hotel bar does serve some light food, which is good. This hotel is far better than the Conrad hotel even though that one is close to restaurants and shopping.
“Stanhope review”
Hotel forgot to provide me a wake up call and I nearly missed my flight. This is after I had requested to 2 different people at the front desk the same wakeup call time of 6:00 AM. Other than that the hotel was outstanding. The breakfast was superb.
“Horrible Customer Service”
There was a strike in Brussels and our flight was canceled from Newark NJ. I was told by the hotel service a reference # to change/cancel my reservation. When I called back they said that it was a misunderstanding and I was unable to modify my reservation in any way. I lost all the money for the 2 night stay. I wanted to change the dates to the end of the week when I would get there and I was even willing to pay a fee. They would not accommodate me in any way. They had hotel availability in case you are wondering. I booked another hotel the Dominican Hotel. Excellent hotel in the center of Brussels. Service was outstanding. Stayed there for 3 nights and would stay there again.
“good hotel”
The Stanhope hotel was pretty good overall. Most of the staff (not all of them) was fairly friendly. I have definitely been in hotels with a more welcoming atmosphere, but there was nothing necessarily negative about it. And depending on who you talk to, some don't seem super knowledgable about the area (i.e. a particular restaurant, etc). It was a nice and clean room, lobby, etc. They did charge for internet. The location was pretty good. Very close to a metro (2 in fact). Metro does close at midnight, so have to walk home if you go out at night, which is typically near Grand Place- but the walk is fairly safe on weekends and only about 15-20 minutes.
“we felt pampered and loved it”
My two young children and I traveled to Sicily with an overnight stop-over in Brussels on our return to the US. Originally, we were supposed to arrive in Brussels at 3:30pm, so I reviewed hotel options and booked at the Stanhope thinking that we'd have time to walk/metro to the Grand Plaza and Palace and generally get a feeling for Brussels (albeit rushed) through the course of an evening. In the end, we had travel delays and didn't get into Brussels until midnight. So much for actually seeing Brussels! Still, our stay at the Stanhope was wonderful. It gave us the pampering and the luxury to withstand the last leg of our journey (two more flights the next day to ultimately arrive in Texas). We arrived there at 12:40am (00:40) and were greeted by a very friendly and helpful gentleman at the front desk, as well as an attendant who accompanied us to the room to make sure everything was to our liking. Our room was lovely and spotless--actually two rooms, each with a flat-screen TV, and we had a comfortable bedroom area and a granite bathroom, complete with both a tub and a shower, along with nice shampoos and shower gel (L'Occitane, no less). After a grueling day of travel, my children (aged 5 and 8) were beside themselves with joy. We slept soundly and felt refreshed by the time we needed to leave for the airport the next day. We are just sad we did not have the chance to see more of the city and spend more time in the hotel!
“Style matters”
First time in Brussels, attending the congress that lasted whole day, stayed at Stanhope just two nights, excellent, polished, flawless service, you almost forget that you are in Belgium and not in England. The room (single, twin bed) , impressive, but a little worn out (lamps at the bed a little wobbly, not fastened securely to the wall; a part of bathroom faucet fell of). This didn't matter, it contributed to the feeling of britishness. Didn't try the breakfast, it seems rather expensive. Enjoined my stay there even more when I discovered a label in the closet that stated outrageus tariff for a night - thanks to Expedia I payed less than half of normal price.
