“Very nice hotel”

The bar area, food, reception and the room itself were lovely as were the staff, but let down by the surrounding corridors (probably being a bit harsh, but replacing old room doors in the corridor would help, seemed a bit dated there) Beautiful surroundings

“De Vere Uplands Hotel review”

Suprisingly there was no blind or curtain in front of the large glass windows in bathroom in front of bath and toilet with communal area directly outside. This wasn't a bathroom you could use toilet or bath at night with light on!! If you don't mind very loud music till midnight this hotel is alright for you - I stayed Sun night not Fri or Sat.

“Uplands”

Hotel served its purpose as just needed a bed for one night locally. carpet was a bit stained and it was a bit unusual but also refreshing having your hotel room door open to the outside instead of a dark corridor.

“Weirdest hotel I've stayed at”

The Devere Uplands is a very odd hotel. The main building is nice enough but the rooms themselves are like mini chalets. You have to leave the main building and walk down 'corridors' which are basically outdoor path with a roof over. Because they are outdoors there is absolutely no sound insulation so I had a very disturbed night's sleep. Sleep wasn't helped by the fact that someone rang my room number at 2am either. But what really disappointed me was the service I received. When I checked in I was asked if I wanted to keep a tab open or 'pay as you go'. I opted to pay as you go and later decided to order some room service. The meal came and I was asked to pay. The waiter said he needed to nip back and get the card machine and would be back in 2 minutes. An hour and a half later I received a call from reception demanding that I pay. By this point I was sat in my PJs in bed and had to get fully dressed to walk back across to the main hotel where I was directed to the bar. When I got to the bar my order had not yet been sent through so I had to stand and wait for several more minutes. I understand that I opted to 'pay as you go' but surely it defeats the object to order room service then have to go down to the bar to pay? Overall I was really disappointed with my stay and will probably avoid Devere from now on.
