Nice hotel but lot of traffic noise

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: There is much to like especially Cleanliness Evening meals Comfortable feel Pleasant staff
Cons: Remove references to a best Western Ensure all electrical equipment works. Install air con in hot bedrooms
Location: Nice location but close to M40 so traffic noise a problem if windows open. Only stayed for one night so have no other information
Reception and welcome were very good. Substantial refurbishment evident but our room also had guest information saying this was a best western hotel when that is not the case. There were also various stickers with best western logo which I would have expected to be removed during refurb. Evening meal was excellent. Room clean but very small and very hot, no air conditioning and loud traffic noise from nearby M40 if windows opened. Only there for one night but television didn't work and nor did the telephone to advise reception of fault with TV. However wifi worked well and easy to access. Staff very friendly but overall sense was that hotel is still a work in progress Would recommend to a friend but with qualifications.

Nice hotel but too noisy

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Nice facilities and staff members. Good food and bar.
Cons: Air condition is necessary. Sound proof windows.
Location: Location is not so convenient. It's a little too far to drive to Oxford.
Nice facilities and staff members. But all the rooms are too close to the event hall therefore all the drunk people noise are heard throughout the whole night.

Kings Hotel

Lovely restaurant staff, very good breakfast. Reception staff efficient however reception area placed away from main entrance so staff unable to see who comes in (and who goes straight upstairs to guest rooms !) Very clean bedrooms and public areas. Although there is a lift, the access to the rooms is through several corridors with steps to various levels- a problem for the less able bodied or elderly.

Hotel for Henley Regatta

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The staff, the location, the bar food, breakfast was reasonable, the rate
Cons: The air con / general heating
Location: Just off M40, Henley, High Wycombe and Marlow are both nice-looking well-to-do towns worth a nosey around.
We were staying in the area for the Henley Regatta and liked the look of this place. It is really handily located, just a mile off the M40, the staff were really helpful (advising of a local taxi firm before we got there, advising when we were trapped on the M40 when it got closed) and the rate was good. Parking was plentiful and the village / town looks nice - no panic about leaving the car there ! The room was small but had most of what you needed but by God was it hot (the sole reason for giving "Comfort" a 2). The air con kind of helped but it clicked off after an hour; there was no respite using the cold water tap as that just produced hot water. Odd. The bed was big and comfortable, shower pressure good, the room was cleaned for our second night - everything else was good - just so hot. One other really good thing - the burger in the evening in the bar - very good !

Very small rooms.

Posted Jul 6, 2014
We checked in and although we booked a twin and a double we were given a twin and a single and told that is what we booked. After showing the paperwork we were grudgingly given a double which is one of the smallest hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. Could not even move the chair out from the desk without hitting the bed. With 2 suitcases there was virtually no room to move. Room was very hot even though the window was open. At night hot water came from the cold tap and boiling water from the hot tap. Something a bit Faulty Towers about this place!

NOT NICE

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: The parking was good.
Cons: Cleanliness and improved decor and lighting but above all cleanliness.
Location: Passing through so did not explore the locality.
Sorry to be so negative but this was a very disappointing hotel particularly as it looked so nice from the outside and on the professional photos. The room was very small and dirty. Lots of hair on the bathroom floor - lots of dust - a badly cracked sink - the bathroom drainage smelt and the carpets and general decor was worn and tired. You couldn't drink the tap water so had to buy £3 bottles from the bar!! Didn't want to stay for breakfast as we were worried about the level of hygiene given the standard of the room. We needed to have the window open to air the room and the road was very noisy outside all night.

Don't stay on the first floor

In an exec room on the first floor, felt like a nightclub beneath my bed until late. Don't stay on the first floor!

Not the best

Posted Jun 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
My room was very small and there was a huge water mark on the ceiling, and strangely enough the carpet underneath was damp.. The food in the restaurant was ok, had better at lesser rated places though. Service in the bar/restaurant was good.
