Ok but nothing special
One night stay whilst visiting friends. Annual trip. We’re barely in the room so I booked a basic double - think I upgraded last year. Large room, overlooked car park, but ok, if a bit brown! The bathroom was terrible. Loo was dirty under the seat, shower tap/fitting rusty and falling apart. The whole hotel is now dated and needs money spending on it. Such a shame as years ago it was a very upmarket place. Now it’s very ordinary and overpriced for what it is.

Have given me a small bed. The first nigh. We happy to give ma a great room. Loved the setting. And the sound of the water on the weir. The parking was not good. They had Christmas party on Friday and Saturday night.

Not bad
Really lovely staff. Super friendly and helpful. Lovely location in Marlow. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment for the price. Supplement for eggs Benedict. Not sure why. Baked beans were the worst I had ever tasted. Had to send breakfast back as it was cold. Also really shocked at the service charge applied to every round of drinks at the bar that we went up and ordered and took back to our table ourselves. Not sure this is justified at all. Especially when paying £13 for a Bailey's!! Really lovely hotel just a few bits that disappointed.

A little disappointed.
Nice location and look and feel is good. Disappointed with the food in the Riverside Restaurant and definitely not value for money. This applies to dinner and breakfast. £20 for breakfast each and then a supplement of £6 if you wanted certain things like Avocado on toast instead of a full English. The full English was only one rasher of bacon one sausage one mushroom and half a tomato. We did decline the black pudding. The breakfast had obviously been cooked much earlier and left for some time to keep warm. At dinner We paid £4 for the smallest pot of nuts as a nibble to start with. The king prawn tagliatelle only had 5 prawns and the Chicken Milannaise was just chicken in breadcrumbs on a bed of green salad leaves. We had to pay £ 6 extra for the chips to go with it. This certainly wasn’t the standard of cuisine that we were expecting and paid for.

Nice but could be a little better
Hotel is set, beautifully, on the Thames. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The Sindhu Restaurant was amazing. Excellent food. Staff fantastic. Breakfast service was very slow both mornings. Room decor a little tired. Needs updating.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful spot but: Our group checked in separately and there was an issue with the need for an accessible room - we tried to call the hotel while out in the afternoon to resolve this before returning in the evening, the reservations inbox was full and just cut off and 2 calls to the hotel reception rang for half an hour each before we gave up. Lack of response was very poor! When we returned to the hotel the issue was resolved but due to inability to contact the hotel we were worried about this all afternoon. We paid a price to include breakfast but we’re very surprised to see on the menu that a “specialty “ coffee I.e. a cappuccino or latte would be £4 extra - not a major issue except left us feeling that every penny being squeezed out was more important than customer experience

My husband and I had a fantastic stay in a deluxe double overlooking the river for our recent wedding anniversary. The staff were amazing and went above and beyond for us, even before they knew it was a special occasion. Chris the concierge was wonderful and a joy to talk to. The restaurant in the hotel, Sindhu by Atul Kochhar, was lovely. Food delicious, and again the staff were impeccable. Great location only a short walk in to Marlow, where there are shops, pubs and restaurants to explore. We will definitely be back!

Excellent dog-friendly venue.
Primary for us was a certain level of luxury and a dog-friendly venue. Compleat Angler met both of these. Check in was super friendly and efficient. Our room was outstanding. We dined in Sindhu which was one of the best Indian meals I’ve ever tasted. Concierge staff we really helpful. My only slight complaint was the breakfast service. Food was somewhat lacking, and the staff seemed to be in disarray. However, it didn’t taint our stay at all, just a little comical at times.

The setting and room were lovely, the breakfast was fine. Sadly, we were not able to have the use of the tables on the lawn by the river - which was the main reason we booked. It was my wife’s birthday - we stayed for 2 nights, meals out both nights. We wanted to spend the afternoon of the day in between the lawn tables playing games, drinking wine - and watching the river and the world drift by. The hotel, however, booked the lawn area to a private function. With no access for residents. No other options. Nothing to make up for it. And then the TV in the room didn’t work either. Maintenance person 1 came - couldn’t fix it. Asked for person 2, who never came. So no games on the lawn, or tv in the room. And not even a happy birthday for my wife. And nothing offered by the hotel to make up for it.

Lovely setting
Booked a night on the way home from the other end of the country to break the journey up. Hotel situated on the Thames and was very relaxing. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable with river views. The only minor thing was the cleaning around the windows in the restaurant. Cobwebs and debris all over the sills. Otherwise excellent

Sadly this hotel is in decline. The rooms are dated and in need of refurbishment. Definitely overpriced. There are obvious problems with staffing. Breakfast service was chaos mostly due to lack of staff ( not their fault). We waited over an hour before our order was taken. The supervisor was apologetic but flustered and made excuses. Checkout was slick due to pre payment. I would not recommend this hotel unless some serious changes are made. In its favour is its fabulous location.

The hotel is well positioned to offer a short walk for meals or local shopping. It is also within walking distance to the business office where I work when traveling to this area. The scenery is breath taking and quiet. The best place in town.

Lovely location - poor breakfast
The room was lovely and the extra touches of the petals in the room and the box of chocolates were a very lovely touch, as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The room was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. However, our breakfast was rather disappointing. The cooked breakfast served was delicious, but the continental selection was severely lacking. There were no pastries available at all. The orange juice had run out and I had to ask for it to be refilled (which it was eventually). Our toast was served without butter and despite my husband asking for sauce with his breakfast - it never arrived. The fresh fruit had also run out. I did ask if these could be replenished, but after waiting 10-15 minutes, we decided to give up and leave. We were at breakfast at around 9am - so it wasn’t at the very end of the sitting. Such a shame that this rather took the shine off what had been, up to that point, a lovely stay.

The hotel is very short of staff in every department - housekeeping, reception, food service - so service is slow or simply not provided. The current staff seems either very over-worked or new and not trained (for example, a bartender who doesn’t know how to make drinks). Also, despite extensive grounds, there is no gym. The property is lovely, but it needs better management, and the guest experience does not match the hefty room prices.

The bridge is a death trap for wide cars . the breakfast was one of the worst. not freshly cooked but served from a pre prepared area. abysmal. will never go there again and never recommend McDonalds. on my way to Stratford now for 10 days and have given McDonalds a wide bearth. Televisions are not smart and have limited programmes.
