“Friendly, welcoming but tatty..needs more love!”

We have stayed here several times before and I have known it for many years before that. As always, the welcome was friendly, the room clean and the food good. BUT..the whole place needs attention. Each time we've stayed, there has always been some small detail, like a door or window latch clearly left broken for some time, scuffed paintwork and the like. It looks as if no-one goes around the rooms checking the general state of repair or if they do, that they don't care or have insufficient time to carry out basic maintenance. This time we were in Room 11, basically a nice room...but the door to the WC and handbasin cannot be shut as the catch doesn't. Further the bolt to hold it shut lacks the toggle and in any event only catches on the wooden door frame. These things may be minor, but it makes it seem as no-one cares or can be bothered..which is unfortunate, given that the staff are actually all nice, friendly folk!
