One of the best places in BudapestPosted Jan 28, 2015
I am in love with this building, and so my opinion is biased!!! If you want to live in luxury and truly appreciate architecture and interior design details, then try out this hotel. All levels of room standards (and prices). The only reason to not stay here is if you really want to be in the center of town or on the Danube. If you can manage a 20 minute walk or short Metro ride, then no one should be disappointed by this place. Good Wifi & great breakfast.

Great - but room for improvement.Posted Jan 25, 2015
Pros: Excellent location.
Cons: It's extraordinary that an hotel of this standard fails to provide free bottled water in the rooms. I've made this comment in the past, to no effect!
The Reception staff are excellent, and most of the new rooms are very comfortable.

Stunning exterior and interior. Staff were great.Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: The facade and decor, the rooms, the restaurant(s), the spa and the staff.
Cons: (Good quality) Tea and coffee in the rooms. The price of the breakfast.
Location: Little walk from the main Danube river area but still not far at all really. Close to some good restaurants and near the very 'chic' Szimpla bar.
Took my girlfriend here for here birthday and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful hotel, very grand. The price was fantastic as well, but we were there out of season. The breakfast area and enclosed New York Restaurant are simply stunning. The sound of live piano musics at all times throughout the day and evening were also a treat to the ears upon entering and leaving the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the check out was hassle free; they even booked us a luxury taxi to the airport, which even turned out to be much cheaper than the taxi I got ripped off in on the way to the hotel! The spa was also great, albeit not incredibly cheap in comparison to the many massage and treatment places in Budapest, but it was excellent nonetheless. The location is the only downside as it is a good 30 minute walk to the Danube (which is where it's 'all going on') but taxis are cheap enough and the walk is actually quite easy - we did it a couple of times and there are great restaurants and shops on the way. Could have done with some nice tea and coffee in the rooms too! Other than that it was fantastic, wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if I went to Budapest.

Nice HotelPosted Jan 16, 2015
Cons: find alternatives to the steep marble stairs
This is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a section of Budapest that we did not feel safe walking around at night and as a consequence, took taxi rides to evening engagements. The hotel is beautifully restored and there is always a crowd in the New York Cafe taking pictures of the elaborate and intricate decorations. There are a lot of stairs in the hotel and no alternative means of getting to the lobby or any of the restaurants. The rooms are docorated in a very uncomfortable fashion with hard leather/plastic chairs that are not conducive to prolonged sitting.

Nice hotel, great spaPosted Jan 12, 2015
The staff were friendly & the rooms were clean. Location is about 15 mins walk to the river where the main attractions are. However The New York cafe was very underwhelming - atmosphere was like a doctor's waiting room :(

Very comfortable stayPosted Dec 29, 2014
We enjoyed our stay very much and the staff were all very polite and friendly. We did not have breakfast there as it seemed very pricey but the room was very comfortable in all respects.
