Great hotel, great location

Posted Jul 22, 2014
This is a fab hotel with the best views in town. The staff were friendly and the breakfast plentiful, and varied with a cooked option as well as continental. It is close to the tram, metro and the big bus picks up very close. There are a number of lovely restarants near by plus a local supermarket a short walk. This hotel gives all the convenience of a location central to everything but a bit away from the noise of the city.

We couldn't have been happier!

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Location: The location is very good, just a short walk to the metro and several handy bus stops.
My husband and I stayed a week at Hotel Victoria in May 2014, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The view of the river was stunning. The bathroom was a good size (larger than many we've had in Europe) and it included a full tub. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a variety of items to satisfy any taste. The staff was outstanding. They were friendly and helpful and fluent in English. Hotel Victoria is a delightful, relatively small hotel with modern amenities and old world charm. We give it our highest recommendation.

Ideal location

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: Everything. Breakfast omelettes. central location.
Cons: Evening meals would be greatly appreciated.
Location: On the Danube, opposite parliament building. 5 mins walk to the chain bridge is the point for the hop on/hop off bus routes. Castle Buda funicular.
Stayed here in mid June 2014. Central location for the bus routes, close to the Castle funicular. I recommend the green/ pink 2 day bus pass. Hop on/ hop off. includes a free beer, goulash soup and a river cruise. gets you everywhere you need and is very frequent. The zoo is a great trip but is quite large and a bit of a trek round everything. Pick your favourites.

Brilliant location and what a view!!!!

Posted Jun 3, 2014
Pros: View, cleanliness, helpful staff, very good breakfast, central location.
Cons: I think it would benefit of a ramp at the entrance.
Location: on the river bank, just in the middle between the two parts of the city. All major attractions are walking distance, but can use the tram if tired.
I arrived at the Hotel Victoria with my husband and a toddler after attending a friend's wedding in the near town Tata. As we were only staying one night in Budapest I wanted a hotel with the view of the Danube river in a central location. The hotel definitely met my expectations and more. We had an amazing room, spacious, modern and clean with a spectacular view. I remember that what I said when I entered the room was 'Wow'!!!!! The location was spot on, just in between the two parts of the city, about five minute walk from the Chain Bridge and about ten from the cable car which takes to the Castle Hill. When I booked the room I didn't ask for a cot as I thought my son would have slept with us, but when we arrived early in the afternoon I asked a last minute request for a cot and they were very happy to accommodate us. We went out for the rest of the afternoon and when we came back we found a cot with cute kiddie pillow and duvet with extra towels. The breakfast was very generous with a variety of food on offer. While you normally find ready made scramble eggs, a waitress was taking orders about how we wanted our eggs cooked. Another plus is the fact that the hotel was built attached to a old grand house which is possible to partially view from 4-5pm while having some tea and biscuits. I would say that the only downside for us was the immediate access to the hotel. There are only steps, so not easy access for prams or people in wheelchair.

Views of The Parliament

Posted May 2, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, food
Cons: A small coffeemaker in the room would be great.
Location: Clark Adam Square where hop-on-hop-off buses stop is a short walk from Viktoria. You can also climb Castle or Gellert hill.
Location is excellent: Danube embankment with the magnificent Parliament building across the river, a short walk from Metro. Hotel rooms are large and beautiful. We stayed in room 93 on the 9th floor, with a private balcony. For breakfast they serve at least 20 different cheeses, hams and other cold cuts, omelet made to order, baked goods, cereals, veggies and fruits, espresso and cappuccino. Everything is extra-fresh and clean. Bottom line: this hotel is the perfect place to stay in Budapest.

Beautiful views

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: The staff were charming and helpful, the rooms very smart, clean and comfortable.
Location: We walked up to the Thermal baths but took the metro back. Well worth the walk and the experience. The market was also a highlight.
This is a lovely, comfortable hotel in a prime position for sight-seeing. We didn't need to do more than open the curtains and look out of our 4th. floor window. The view was absolutely magical, especially at night with buildings and bridges lit up and the Danube shining below. The room was spacious, very clean, very quiet and well furnished. Breakfast was typical continental with eggs freshly cooked to your personal order when you sat down. An unexpected treat was complimentary tea or coffee between 4:00 and 5:00 pm in a beautiful old music room at the back of the building. Because the hotel was so well placed on the banks of the Danube, near the Chain bridge, opposite the Parliament and underneath the Fisherman's bastion, everything was walkable and very relaxed.

Excellent small hotel on the Buda side

Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: Location and view, room size and comfort, buffet breakfast, helpful staff
We had an excellent stay at the Victoria. The hotel is on the quieter side of the river but with stunning views across to Pest - particularly from the upper rooms. Room 92 on the top floor is highly recommended! A good buffet breakfast with plenty of choice is included and they will also provide fried eggs, omlettes, bacon etc. Rooms are spacious with a lot of storage space and a well-stocked mini bar and the staff were all extremely helpful. A 15 minute walk will take you across the river to Pest and a shorter walk up the streets and steps at the back of the hotel will take you up to the Matyas church in the castle district. There's a really good Belgian restaurant next door to the hotel.
