A small hotel close to centrePosted Nov 22, 2013
Pros: Small, quite friendly. Close the centre of Budapest and the transport hub. Our room was large and comfortable.
Cons: Tea and coffee making facilities would have been appreciated. A shower with a higher shower attachment on the wall.
Location: Central. Easy walking dist to transport hub (Metro, trams, buses) and Opera, shopping street, restaurants. It was why we chose it. Not disappointed.

Pros: Location is perfect and the staff in nice and helpful
One block off one of Budapest's busiest area, with all the benefits and hindrances that means. You can walk anywhere, restaurants abound and you may be waken at 1AM by the revelers... My room was on the 1st floor (second floor for Americans) and that probably didn't help. The room was perfectly adequate, the bathroom relatively large for modern hotels (you could actually turn around in it) with a tub and shower curtain. Staff was very personable, helpful and spoke very good English which is becoming the norm recently. I can recommend to anyone who wants to be in the central city and is not overly bothered by noise.

Good location for BudapestPosted Sep 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Budapest is beautiful and the Carat Hotel is a great location to see it. Our room was really quiet considering the foot traffic just outside. The only issue we have is driving the car on a very slow one-way road to the destination. But that is no fault of their own and they have a garage where you can park your car. I suggest you park the car before the parking garage and not directly in front of the hotel to check in. It is difficult to get back there. But once the car issue was done, we had a great time with a friendly staff and a good breakfast included. I would definitely return.

Central BudapestPosted Sep 1, 2013
Pros: Free Internet.
Cons: Food, decor, room lighting.
Bad beds. Way too hard. Two single duvets for my double bed instead of one double sized one, silly! Decor is cold as is lighting. Shower has no holder above knee level! What's that all about? Breakfast food was poor and not worth getting up for. Cheap packages of jams (glutinous and nasty), nasty scrambled eggs, at least I think the were scrambled? Toast took an eternity to toast and bread was limited to cheap wonder white.

All around ok.Posted Aug 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
I would recommend asking for a room on a higher floor as the neighborhood is busy at night.

Over-priced for what it offersPosted Aug 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
I would like to say that the staff were very nice at the hotel and the location is excellent. However, the standard of the room was more 2 star than 4 star. I wanted an iron and ironing board but that wasn't permitted so I had to use their iron downstairs in the corridor where people passed on their way to breakfast. I would have gotten better service at a hostel. Also, they have an agreement with a taxi service that charges tourists more than locals. The TV in the room was tiny, the shower was poor and the fittings and furniture was cheap. I think the problem with the hotel is with the owners/management. The staff were very kind but could not really do much about the condition of the hotel or the management policies.

Pleasing stay at Carat Hotel July 2013Posted Aug 1, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness & Helpful staff
Cons: Wardrobe storage (hanging) space & noise from the kitchens first thing in the morning.
Location: Convenient for all key tourist sites, restaraunts and the Metro undergorund
We chose the Carat on the basis it was centrally located, we were spending a week sightseeing in Budapest which coincided with the F1 GP. We traveled as a family of four, my wife & I and our 2 sons (20 & 14). The location is excellent for getting to all the key tourist locations of the city and a short walk to the river and its sites. Also conveniently sited for the underground which is just at the end of the street, 100m. Our first impression of the hotel was it was very clean with stylish decor. The rooms were a little small but suitably furnishing, with comfortable beds, the en-suites again were impeccably clean and adequately furnished. The wardrobe storage space however was limited, given the fact we were staying for the week, we needed to share hanging space between the 2 rooms. The rooms we were allocated on the first floor were at the rear of the hotel which ensured a quiet nights sleep. However, the rooms were sited directly above the kitchen area, which resulted in us being woken every morning before 7 o'clock with the breakfast tables being set. Given the fact we were there during the F1 GP weekend the hotel was full and unlikely to have been allocated an alternative room if asked. It should be noted that my overall rating would have been higher, but for the storage space and rooms above the kitchens. The staff were very helpful and always polite, providing us good options to getting to and from the Hungaroring.
