“If you're thinking of booking, don't hesitate!”
Lovely clean, comfortable hotel in an excellent location - no hesitation in booking here again!
“Brilliant Budget Hotel”
Stayed for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, hotel is slap bang in the centre of Pest and a few hundred yards from the Chain Bridge to Buda and an excellent budget choice. We had a superior room which is well worth the extra with a superb view of the Basilika, spacious and spotless. Only grumble being that we found the bed a bit hard being used to USA type memory foam mattresses. Very halpful staff with excellent English which is spoken by almost everyone we met . Good cooked breakfast choice with cold meats & cheese, croissants etc. For dining out there are numerous local restaurants within a stones throw, we particularly liked Pesti Vendeglo and Bohemianya in Paulay Ede ( turn right out of hotel, & across the next square ) both with great menus and modest prices. Loved Budapest, so much to see and easy to get around on tram or bus. We used the AA Spiral Guide which was excellent and included suggested walks and excursions - we particularly liked the Childrens Railway into the hills and the chairlift back down which we would not have known about otherwise ! From the airport we took the airport shuttle bus booked on line & half the price of a taxi. All in all a great stay and thoroughly recommend the City and the hotel.
“Hotel Central Basilica”
This hotel is ideally situated for visiting Budapest. It is a stones throw from the cathedral. The staff were very helpful at all times. The breakfast always had a very good selection of items. There are very nice retaurants very near to the hotel and most of the sites are easy to visit on foot. We took the airport shuttle bus in and it is very good. The day before you return you just need to ring to arrange a time to be picked up.
“Best Located in Budapest”
The best possible location, well organized, and with helpful staff. Wonderful experience for me and my wife. Strongly recommend to anyone visiting Budapest.
“Great location”
Just had a very enjoyable 4 day visit to Budapest, staying at the central basilica hotel. The rooms were very clean on arrival and were cleaned daily as you would expect. The rooms are similar in size to most european hotels, only they have higher ceilings. Note: no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms as is common in Eastern Europe. The staff were very friendly and helpful, as indeed the are most of the people of Budapest. Breakfast is plentiful and great for lovers of fresh fruit cocktail, cereal and toast!! But if you like a big fry up you might be a bit dissapointed. What we would refer to as hot dog sausages and scrambled egg with spam are more the order of the day. This will not be news to anyone that is a past visitor to Eastern European countries, and was not a problem for us. The overwhelming feature of this hotel though, has to be it's great location. It is 50 metres from the huge and beautiful St Stephens Basilica, a 5 minute walk to the Danube and very convenient for walking to all major attractions. Their are also some great eateries and bars in the immediate vacinity.
“Great location”
The only draw back with the Hotel as I saw it was the beds were very low,and in the bathroom it was a very good and strong shower, but hand held. but without doubt I would use this hotel again.
“Excellent location”
A lovely quiet hotel close to a few really great restaurants, cafes and bars. We paid a little extra to have a superior room with views of the wonderful St Stephen's Basilica. It's a short, pleasant walk past the Basilica (take the stairs or lift to the top for superb views) down to the river or to transport links to other parts of the city (we did a lot of walking but some sights are just a bit too far - a boat trip to St Margaret's Island including wine, commentary and a couple of hours on the island is a great way to spend the afternoon after bathing in one of the spa baths during the morning - the nearby metro line takes you straight to the fabulous Szechenyi Baths with no hassle provided you enter the station down the correct stairs!). Walk from the hotel in the opposite direction to get to Vaci Utca and there are many shops, cafes and restaurants and the main metro station where all the lines meet.
“Great Location”
The buffet breakfast is very good value. The staff are extremely polite and helpful. It is situated in a pedestrianised square in the middle of the city, opposite the beautiful St. Stephens Basilica with sufficient surrounding restaurants with different price lists. It is walkable (15 minutes) from main station and gives easy walking access to most other Budapest attractions. Will definitely go back.
“Well located, decently priced, somehow felt like a bargain.”
I was pleasantly suprised with this after a rushed booking. Located right next to the Basilica you feel as if the city was laying right in front of your doorsteps. Rooms actually look as you'd imagine them from the pictures (high ceiling and everything), for a change - which is really good. You'll see lots of different staff at the reception desk and they're all pretty friendly. And Breakfast is awesome. Midsized to small, but seriously anything you could possibly think of before going 5* Deluxe. There's a speaker system installed in the hallways with your usual hohum elevator music. Nice. But sometimes dialed loud enough to keep sensitive ears from sleeping in some rooms. Fortunatly, one enquiry and it will be turned off no questions asked. I have a hunch this wont have been my last stay there.
“would recommend this hotel to everyone”
hotel location, staff, breakfast, comfort, cleanliness. Everything was fantastic. We were close to everything that mattered. Open top bus tours, Cathedral, restaurants, bars, you name it. would definitely go back.
