Convenient location; poor breakfast

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Breakfast; quality of room
The hotel is in a convenient location, close to a shopping mall and food outlets. The hotel is very basic, providing a poor quality breakfast, no English language news channels on the TV and each morning the shower tray outflowed on the toilet floor making it unpleasant to use the room. However, the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Corvin Base Camp

Posted Jan 15, 2014
Cons: Multi-channel TV but NO ENGLISH CHANNEL - even the dreaded CNN. Yes, you read it well. No English TV (news) channel. Management should address.
This hotel is very well located. Getting in to Budapest city centre from the airport by public transport is not easy for the visitor unfamiliar with the idiosyncrasies of the system but actually it can be done with ease once the interconnectivity between buses, trams and metro lines is figured out. It works very well. Some lines are more modern, some buses are older but they all get you there and they are punctual. The City Inn next to the Corvin Centre is on metro line 3 and trams 4 & 6, so getting around is very easy. There are plenty of watering holes & eateries nearby. The City Inn is a standard/business hotel with minimal extra facilities, usually totally redundant for a stay but are aggregated to obtain a higher ranking. What it provides it delivers. Nicely furnished a/c rooms, no frills with well appointed bathrooms with showers that work. The only fault is that it does not have an English TV channel! For in every other respect the City Inn is a very good hotel, comfortable, functional, plentiful, diverse buffet breakfast and WiFi in the lobby, all for a reasonable price. It does not take much to get its 5*. WiFi in the rooms would also be a boon, since many travellers pack a tablet and not necessarily a laptop for ethernet connectivity.

Good location, Very Good hotel

Posted Dec 9, 2013
Pros: Location, comfort and cleanliness
Cons: It got a little warm as AC seemed to be switched off in the hotel
Location: Easy access to all Budapests sites.
Hotel is situated with 5 minutes walk to metro station for easy access around city, and close enough to walk and cycle to all destinations Budapest has to offer. Hotel was quiet, spotlessly clean, big comfy rooms, really good bathroom and the staff were more than helpful with any requests. This hotel is great value for money and I would definately stay here again on visiting the great city of Budapest.

Quality Hotel Close to Budapest centre 15 min walk

Posted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: The Hotel is very clean the rooms & very comfortable & clean 100% Breakfast very good with a choice of hot & cold buffet, Tea Coffee Fruit/Yogurt
Cons: No tea / coffee making facilities in the rooms and that would help but not the end of the world
Location: As above Shops Bars Restaurants Plenty to do for a long weekend
Travelled with a group of friends for 4 nights The hotel is located 15 minute walk to the centre and 1 minute left out of the hotel takes you to the big new shopping centre with shops and a variety of fast food restaurants. There are a number of bars near the hotel some more suited for the younger generation but within 10 minutes walk you can reach an area with bars and restaurants to suit all. Overall very impressed with Budapest the city is very clean and there is plenty to see Prices vary at bar/restaurants but you can enjoy a drink and good food at very reasonable prices we paid in some bars as little as £0.73p a pint up to around £1.90 Some bars will add on 10% service charge some don't Be more vary of prices when you get to the centre or the river in these areas prices do jump considerably and you will pay a service charge Take a trip down the river prices vary but an average of 2100 Huf = £6 will get you on a 1 hour boat trip well worth it for sight seeing. Another very good day out is the varies old Soviet baths and steam rooms etc average cost 4500 Huf £13 including a relaxing massage a taxi will cost around 3000 Huf return £8.70 Would definitely visit Budapest again

Convenient

Posted Oct 6, 2013
Cons: Unbelieveably they do not have a world language English channel on their TV - a major black mark but I am assured a new package is being installed.
Privately owned and managed, small 4* hotel quietly located a stone's throw from the city centre with excellent transport links. Says it all really, except that a street full of restaurants and bars is nearby. If you seek a full service hotel with conference facilities and business centres go elsewhere.

city inn

Good location. Good price and a ten min stroll to the metros. Lovely reception and sitting area to use wifi etc..However, Rooms are very small, breakfast is not too good not much fresh produce and lots of unhealthy fried foods such as hotdogs and stewed things. Warm water for tea and coffee no boiling water to be found. Usually love trying all types of food and love new breakfast foods but it really is just poor and we couldn't stomach it after the third day...

Oasis in the city

Posted Aug 14, 2013
Hotel City Inn was an oasis in the summer heat of 41C++ that we ran into Budapest. Its air conditioned rooms and facilities made us tolerate the heat wave. The rooms are clean, the staff is kind, caring and professional, but the best is the location of the hotel. It can be easily reached from any part of the town, including the airport.

nice but a little dated

Very clean hotel and great service but the rooms were dated and needed upgrading. No iron in room and bathroom needed modernizing. But all in all got what we paid for.
