Perfect for a romantic weekend
Posted Jan 11, 2013
Pros: The bedroom decor was gorgeous, and the bathroom was modern but luxurious. Robes & slippers! Huge, comfortable bed. Loved the lobby too!
Cons: The spa area was lovely but a little dark. Jacuzzi was a nice size but steam & sauna were on the small side.
Location: Close to Parliament & the cathedral. Lovely restaurants & bars nearby. Everything in walking distance. Tube station near Parliament.
We couldn't have had a better experience! The hotel is gorgeous and exceptionally clean. The beds are so comfy and the bathroom was very trendy! Robes and slippers were provided & very nice toiletries. The decor throughout the hotel is beautiful. The staff are friendly and helpful. Big cream leather look settees outside make it modern but comfortable. There was a festival on whilst we were here which totally made our weekend. Live music, excellent food, friendly people. No trouble at/ during or after event and very clean streets. Location was perfect for site seeing.

Iberostar is a Grand Experience
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: Bed comfort and Nespresso machine for coffee lovers.
Cons: Fitness facility and lack of advertised transportation options.
Location: Perfect - close to shops and restaurants but away from noisy traffic and bars.
The hotel room was lovely and spacious with an incredibly comfortable bed and Nespresso machine. The hotel location is ideally located close to shops and the chain bridge yet very quiet from the roar of traffic and ruins bars. The staff were kind and helpful although there is only 1 person available for check-in, check-out and concierge procedures which can be a challenge but the staff were exceptionally efficient to move customers through quickly. Notes for improvement: the hotel has a flat rate taxi fee for transport to and from the airport, however this service is not advertized so complicated our travel planning for departure. We arrived by train and had been cautioned about taxi services taking advantage of unsuspecting visitors. We experienced a somewhat frightening start to the vacation as next to no English translation was available at the train station. It would have been extremely helpful if the hotel had advertised transport options from the train station as well. The fitness facility is woefully inadequate due to the extremely small square footage and air temperature which rather high and humidity level affected by the whirlpool located within the same area. The hours of operation for the fitness centre are not conducive to those on business or pleasure trips wanting to access early in the morning. Overall we feel this is a beautiful hotel but needs a make over in the fitness department and transport options absolutely need to be advertised.

Location: Excellent location
Great location, modern conveniences, lovely view. The shower didn't drain as it should have but it was better after the maintenance person came.

Excellent hotel choice for Budapest
Posted Jan 25, 2013
After reading a gazillion reviews on numerous 4 and 5 star hotels in Budapest, I sort of haphazardly picked this one and hoped for the best. I couldn't have been happier with my selection. The hotel is 4-5 star quality without the steep prices of the more well known hotel chains. The location is perfect- much better than the 5 star hotels that face the Danube in my opinion. It's at the end of a quieter street facing a park and fountain. St Stephens square is two minutes away and you are within walking distance of almost every important landmark, and about 10 minutes away from the famous Chain bridge. The staff was awesome and went out their way to help me arrange tours, look after my bags for a few hours after check-out, and arrange trusted taxi transportation. They all spoke excellent English. The room was unique, but very nice and clean, and had the latest and greatest amenities. Overall, a very memorable, comfortable stay for around a third of what the priciest hotels go for.

Wonderful Three day break
Posted Jan 19, 2013
Pros: First class staff
Cons: The "beds"
Location: First class very central
We stayed Fri-Mon 10-13 May Double bed was in fact two 3/4 beds not joined so easy to fall between- passion killer I had the impression that all 5 star hotels had swimming pools, not so. We did not have breakfast as previous reports indicated the price was somewhat OTT . A similar breakfast can be had for half the price up the street, of a similar quality. So much for the negatives The plus side Room decor 10/10 with a view of a playful fountain Excellent location for site seeing, simmelarly for trams buses metro, also resteraunts

Central and modern 5 star hotel
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: Central location. Relatively new and comfortable hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Large and modern rooms.
Cons: Lack of privacy in bathroom. Too high tech in some respects.
Location: Very central and quiet location overlooking Liberty Square. Close to Parliament and St Stephen's Basilica. Walking distance to Vaci St and Danube.
Difficult to criticize the modern and quirky Iberostar Grand Hotel Budapest. It's very central being close to most of the major tourist attractions whilst still quiet enough to relax. Our rooms overlooked the beautiful Liberty Square. They were large and comfortable with switches to operate the curtains and listen to the TV in the bathroom. All modern conveniences including coffee maker, bathrobes, slippers, minibar and electronic safe. Spacious bathroom had sink and luxurious bath with toilet/bidet and rain shower seperated behind frosted glass doors. Quality beauty products from Gilbert and Soames too. Privacy maybe an issue for some due to being able to see directly into the bathroom from the bedroom. There are no blinds. Staff always available to assist with a smile. Breakfast was 20 Euros. Reasonable choice of food and drink with menu on each table to choose full english, eggs, omelettes, crepes, brownie, waffles e.t.c. Evening meal in the restaurant was good. I particularly enjoyed the baileys cheesecake and home made strawberry lemonade. We were also given a code to access the internet free during our stay. I would not hesitate to book this hotel again in the future. Budapest is a wonderful, cultural and attractive city.

Great hotel for sightseeing
Posted Jan 23, 2013
The hotel is ideally located for sightseeing of both Buda and Pest. Easy walking distance of both bus, tram and metro stations. We visited during a hot spell of weather and the hotel was exceptionally hot, both in the room and surrounding areas even thou we had air conditioning in the room.
