Weekend break was wonderful.

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: The "executive club" room on the eighth floor.
Location: Excellent location overlooking the Danube and central for all main sites.
The club rooms on the eighth floor are well worth the extra cost.

Valentines Weekend

Posted Feb 16, 2015
I had never been to Hungary before and booked valentines day with my boyfriend here! The Sofitel was in THE BEST location to see all the sites easily (no cabs or trains etc) a short walk from all the best restaurants - we got a free upgrade to a beautiful suite with a view of the river and bridge overlooking the historic buildings.... Perfect. Only English Channel was BBC News though which is morbid at the best of times but they rent out DVDs and a player if you do want a relaxing evening in your room!

Fantastic View!

Posted Feb 2, 2015
The Danube river view was spectacular and the hotel staff were fantastic. The service was stellar, and the location is perfect! However, the guest rooms are tired and in bad need of renovation, certainly not 5-star. I've stayed in other Sofitel locations, and these rooms were by far the worst. Desk chair was dirty, crumbs on the desk and the lounge chair was falling apart at the seams.

Sehr empfehlenswert an Top Lage

Posted Jan 26, 2015

Beautiful Hotel , Great location

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: The location
Location: The location of the hotel was great, walking distance to shopping area, restaurants, and pubs
I stayed in Sofitel during New year period and it was a great stay. The room size is good and the view was fantastic, the bridge, river and old castle all insight.

Nice hotel with only one problem

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: location + comfort
Cons: what goes on outside the hotel restaurant needs improvement
Location: try Tigris restaurant 5 minutes walk away if you fancy something fancy
The hotel is in the perfect location for a short visit to Budapest - right beside the main tourist attractions, shopping + restaurants. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Restaurant/bar is nice with decent food. Good breakfast, nice staff. Only problem is the several prostitutes who hang around at the entrance after dark hassling male guests - they should do something about that.

Hotel

Posted Dec 28, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness; situation; quality of food - when we ate in the hotel.
Cons: Heating/cooling - air conditioning. Provision of teabags. Or coffee, if that's what one drinks.
Location: At the Chain Bridge; Xmas markets [at Xmas time]. Buda and the baths across the river. Pest all round the hotel.
Would only leave 1 tea bag for a room with two people in it, despite asking for more. Coffee cream was off when we arrived; notified Concierge when we went out. On our return three hours later, curdled tea was still in situ. My wife was ticked off because she couldn't use her Club Accor card as the booking had been made with Expedia so reception said.] The room heating was far too hot and could only be regulated 2.5 degrees either way.
