“Great Hotel”

The hotel was very well kept. The people were very helpful in setting up tours and answering questions. The food was very good. The location was at the edge of the beautiful recolata neighborhood. I would definately return to this hotel.

Area recommendations
The Recoleta neighborhood near the Recoleta Cementario was beautiful. The boat museums down by the ports were also a great area. I also highly recommend attending a Tango show. We went to Sabor Tango and the food was delicious and the show was great.

“Good service and price”

We were pleased with the hotel service and location. However, the room was not so clean when we arrived. There was someone's hair all over the floor. The toilet flashed by itself all night long and woke us up many times.

“Bunos Aires”

The only complaint I have about this hotel is that their air conditioning system was deficient, and once even broke down for several hours. The location of the hotel is ideal - right between the Recoleta and Retiro districts, and only a block from Avenida Santa Fe. Lots of shopping and fine restaurants within walking distance.

Area recommendations
Palermo and Palermo Viejo. Beautiful parks, wide, tree-shaded streets, interesting and well-maintained monuments and museums, and up-scale shops, bars, and restaurants.
Getting around
If you are on a budget and are somewhat adventuresome, it is important to master the public transportation system. The Lonely Planet travel guide will give you an introduction to the subway (Subte) and bus systems. The Subte only serves limited areas and stops running at about 10:30 p.m. The buses, on the other hand, transit the entire city, and provide service all night. The challenge is that there are about 300 bus lines, and they are all owned by different companies. To understand the system, it is essential that one purchase what is called a Guia "T" de Bolsillo, which is a guide for all of the buses. It costs about $2.00 US, and can be found at most of the street corner news/magazine kiosks.

“A Perfect Hotel and Location”

The room was well designed, with a desk and chairs for meetings nicely situated in their own room. Service is perfect, and bi-lingual representatives work at the front desk (Engilsh and Castellano speakers). Location is convenient in a safe part of the Recoleta neighborhood, near tourist attractions and a quick walk to the subway, line D. Numerous little restaurants and store are in the neighborhood, and guests will find themselves almost on Santa Fe Avenue. I recommend this hotel.

Area recommendations
Recoleta is almost next door, with the famous Recoleta Cemetary. Alternatively cross 9 de Julio and walk less than 10 minutes to Florida Avenue, a popular tourist area with shopping and eating.

“A good experience”

This is a good hotel, extremely good if we consider the price we paid for. The staff is kind and efficient including the front desk people, the concierges, the waiters and the housekeepers. Good room (with laminate floor, not carpet) , good bathroom. Both corresponded with the pictures we saw previously. A special mention to the breakfast: good quality,abundant and varied. Perhaps -just perhaps- the secret of the smooth running of the hotel is that the manager sat every morning at one corner of the breakfast room and controlled everything. In summary, a very good experience.

“Nice, low priced hotel in good location”

Hotel de las Americas is in a good location in the Recoleta area, walking distance to shopping and some atteractions (the cemetary and flea market). The hotel was clean, the staff friendly, and the cost was remarkably low. There was nothing fancy, no extras to recommend it, just a simple clean room. The main issue was language. English was not the first language, and only 2 employees had a basic working knowledge of English, others did not. Nevertheless, we found out what we needed and overall were happy with the hotel.

Stay was as expected. Overall decent hotel. Somewhat outdated but comfortable and adequate.
