Business trip to BA

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: The staff were very helpful and spoke English (my Spanish is not good) and the room was very comfortable.
Cons: Perhaps label the food at the buffets, as I did not know what some of the items were.
Location: I walked to the Casa Rosada and the Plaza there but there was an undercurrent of tension in the city that day - the day before the general strike.
I stayed in this hotel during a business trip to South America. The room was lovely with a beautiful bathroom and it is in an ideal spot near the shops and city centre. I asked for a 'REmise' car to take me to my various meetings and was allocated a driver called Henrique who was excellent. He spoke excellent English and got me to my meetings on time, even during the recent general strike! He also pointed out many landmarks to me and gave me some history about the city. The breakfast was lovely and I also had a buffet lunch there.

Fit for purpose

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Very comfortable room: Good location if you are happy to walk through the city
Cons: The air con was noisy and as it was needed all night (windows closed for noise ) this was a shame.
Location: WE found being midway between the " smart " Recoleta area and the centre a benefit not a disadvantage. However the street outside is noisy with bars.
WE were there for three weeks which I guess is longer than most by a large margin . We were left very much to ourselves which suited us but I was surprised the hotel didn't make any special effort since we were staying quite a long time and we are Melia rewards members. We never had breakfast there . The price is high given how easy it is to get an acceptable breakfast a several good bars/cafes for a quarter of the price. (which mounts up over 3 weeks!) T he room was very good but the street outside is noisy with bars open until 3pm most nights. Closing the windows helped but then the aircon was needed and this was noisy . Still it wasn't enough to detract from a vvery enjoyable holiday or for me to ask for another room but others might want to check their aircon first and if it's too noisy try to get another room.

In Need of Overall Wake Up

Posted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: There was a multi storey car park opposite which was convenient for parking a car. There was nothing impressive about the hotel, average at best.
Cons: As I mentioned in my comments, the whole hotel needs a complete shake up and modernisation as it looks tired and a lack of motivation right through.
Location: Buenos Aires is a beautiful city to visit, with plenty of class buildings and museum's monuments and history, as well as modern bars and restaurants.
The hotel needs a complete wake up right through. Much smaller than photos suggest, no dedicated bar and relaxation area for guests, just a small bar off reception. Staff in need of Customer Service courses, and educating about how a smile is much better than a straight poker face. Restaurant was OK, but limited menu and not changed at all over the whole course of a 2 week visit. Gym and spa not open until 11am on weekends and when I asked at 10.45am if they would allow me in to use the treadmill, I got a completely abrupt "No" They had no idea of customer service. I needed to print out some airline tickets I had bought online. They had a "Business Centre" but no staff to assist and the printer would not work. So they sent a porter with me to assist, but he had no knowledge of the printer. I gave up in the end. The breakfast was OK each morning but same choices each day, no variation. The first part of my stay was in a room on 8 floor with a crack in the window and a broken window hinge which meant the window would not close properly. The room was an upgrade I paid for. Ironic that on the second part of my visit they gave me a room on 3rd floor which was better appointed. I was amazed at the ignorance of most of the staff, and disappointed with my visit there. I booked it on the reputation of Melia hotels which is generally pretty good. This was poor overall. The hotel is in a convenient area, with little bars outside, but a constant parade of people asking for money.

Fine hotel well located

Posted Feb 9, 2014
Cons: A curtain between the bathroom and the bedroom would probably be a good thing for those customers who care.
Location: On an pedestrian walking street with many restaurants and bars, a couple of blocks away from the main shopping street, close to sites
This is a very nice centrally located downtown hotel. The staff was helpful and generally spoke English including the operators. It has a mid-sized marble lobby, usually with a couple of doorman at the front. I had a superior room which was updated and modern and a good size, the bathroom also had all new appointments. It was comfortable & clean. Unusually, the bathroom was actually open to the rest of this room, so you'll be pretty much exposed if you're taking a bath although the shower had an opaque glass door, and the WC itself had a solid door. The hotel is on a street and area with many restaurants, bars and stores, a couple of blocks from the main shopping street Florida and a subway station, within walking distance to many of the sites and Puerto Madero, one of the main restaurant areas. I would recommend this hotel for any travellers.

Nice hotel in the center of BA

Posted Jan 17, 2014
The location is very good, close to many places of interest. The staff is attentive. We stayed in the hotel two times - in standard room and in deluxe room. Both are spacious and comfortable. Coffee-maker in the room. Nice gym and indoor heated swimming-pool (a bit too warm), sauna. Breakfast is good. In business-center on the second floor we checked in for the flight and printed out boarding passes for free. We also asked for a late check-out at 3 pm and got it with no extra charge. I would certainly recommend the hotel.
