“not bad”

The interior of the hotel is nice, but I had a bathroom roof leak, which caused flooding, so I had to change rooms. The surrounding neighborhood is very convenient, but chaotic. The street which the hotel is located has a very slim sidewalk. It is on a major thoroughfare with lots of noisy buses & exhaust. But the hotel is very centrally located & close to lots of shopping and pedestrian streets. One obvous suggestion for traveling to Chile & Argentina--if you don't have at least some conversational Spanish, you may be in for a rough visit. Also, be very careful on the metroes--I was pick pocketed on the Santiago Metro.

“I would like to go back!”

I was impressed with the location of the hotel. It is in the middle of commercial and stores zone. Walking distance to the several points of interest. Unfortunatelly, I stayed only one night but was enough to see the convenience location. The breakfast was pretty good and the room was huge and comfortable.

“Nice hotel, old building but very good location.”

Friendly staff. Clean room. The neighborhood might seem lonely at night but overall it is very well located. Close to fine dinning, shopping and sightseeing places.

“Very recommended”

I really recommend this Hotel in Buenos Aires. The localization is great, hotel service and breakfast are also very good. I don't have any complains e really recommend you to stay at Rochester Hotel and enjoy Buenos Aires.

Area recommendations

I recommend Caminito, San Telmo (a long walk from donwtown to San Telmo is amazing), Palermo, Recoleta, Carlos Gardel Museum, Belas Artes Museum, MALBA Museum, Tango Musical Show, see an Opera at Colón Theatre.

“Great for the price”

The front desk personnel were very friendly and accommodating. My staying was only for a few hours between flights and they provided me with a room before the checking-in time and facilitated for me to have the breakfast ahead of time. The rooms are small but well kept. A great value for the price. The neighborhood was not the greatest but conviniently located for the downtown area.

“Satisfactory”

A good central location although it's not in the nicest area/street. The room was clean and comfortable although it did smell of smoke despite our reserving a non smoking room. The hotel facilities were ok but they were the only hotel we stayed in (from budget to luxury), in South America that charged for its wifi and internet service (and at considerably over the local normal rates). Most of the staff were friendly and helpful but this was not universally the case. Overall we had a reasonable experience but probably would not stay here again.

“Convenient location”

The RH Rochester Classic is located in the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It is conveniently located across from a Subte station and there are plenty of taxis available nearby. Ave 9 de Julio and Florida Street are a short walk away. The check-in process was hassle free and very welcoming. The rooms were accomodating and clean, but the TV would lose reception at times. There is a mini fridge available, but no iron/ironing board. Free wireless internet is available, however it is only offered in the main lobby. I never had an opportunity to try the free breakfast/lunch since I could never wake up in time! Overall, it is a great place to stay at this price point.

“Excellent hotel for the price paid”

Moderately priced hotel in the very center of everything. Just one corner with Lavalle st and two blocks away from Florida st, both walking and business centers. Excellent complimentary breakfast. Half pension lunch was OK but not much to select from. Friendly general staff, but not so friendly managers. Eventhough we stayed 15 days at hotel, Food and Drink Manager & Security Manager NEVER greeted or smiled at us. We seemed to be like transparent persons to them. There is a permanent security guard near entrance, but don't expect no matter what - that he will open the door for you.

Recoleta, Palermo, San Telmo, Microcentro, San Martin, Puerto Madero, El Tigre, La Plata, the cemeteries

Traveler's tip

We have plenty of time to visit all mayor attractions in the area. Be aware that prices can change depending on you nationality. You can get better ticket prices if you find someone local buy them for you. Don't take the open top bus rides, otherwise you will NOT get to know BsAs. Take you time, walk around, talk to people, take the subway - and you will get to know the real Argentina. People are friendly and helpfull. Obviously don't get late at nigth on dark streets and don't show to much jewelry or money. US dollars are generally acepted, but it is easier to use "pesos" and more secure. Look out for funny money, the are some good color-photocopies. Learn how to recognice the real ones.
